Just a bunch of old crap
I just picked up the Cocoon UltraLight pillow last week for an upcoming trip. It was a little pricier than some models at $25 shipped, but I was willing to spend a little more for comfort. Ratings on this thing were fantastic so I decided to pull the trigger.

This little gem is inflatable to 17" which is a little bigger than many, has different material on each side (soft/warm on one side, cool nylon on the other), and it packs down into a stuff sack the size of your fist. I took a nap with it this weekend and it's fantastic. The valve seems rather stout so you can adjust to your preferred firmness and it holds that pressure. Can't wait to try it on the trails.

that is pretty interesting. The biggest thing I have issues with is the pillow at night. I either wake up and it is pushed above my head, or I wake up and my neck is super sore..... or sometimes both. lol I might have to give this a try.

Check what you are willing to spend and find the best frame out there. My first bike was a Trek 6500 which had a great frame. Components will brake and you can always upgrade those, so research the frames.

I eventually wanted a full suspension bike so I sold the Trek to my brother and bought a Kona Stinky. Since then I have put 3x the original cost of the bike in upgraded componentry, all the while I still have that sweet original Kona frame. This was all back in 1999 and I still ride the Stinky.

This thread needed a revival! It was almost to the bottom of the Sports/hobbies page!

I just put about 29ft of paracord on the top bar of the backpack.
Got it a little better looking without as much gaps. Trying to figure out if I like it or not.

    Haha glad you found it!

    A compression bag is this:

Mine is an Outdoor Research dry bag. It works great and is super tough. It is always on the bottom outside of my pack with my mummy bag in it. It takes a good amount of blows back there and still looks brand new.

The rockhopper is an awesome bike. I still have my 04. Had a Cannondale as well, newer, and i ended up selling it because the R.H. was so much better.

thanks! taking a virgin backpacker with me so I am just going to take it easy on them! haha So far I like the paracord wrap on the pack. It definitely makes it a little easier to lift without killing your fingers on the small bar. It only took about half an hour to do too.

You should be able to. I stretched my laces out a little bit to get everthing even. If you started at the bottom of that top bar and went over to the other bottom you should be good. Just make the laces nice and tight together.

I am headed down to the red river gorge in KY. Not liking the weather outlook. Supposed to thunderstorm all weekend. Mid 80's will be nice though. Low 60's in the morning.

Camping in the rain sucks...I was out this past weekend at our TW meet and it rained both mornings. I still have some of my things set up in the garage to let them dry out properly! Nothing worse than waking up cold and wet...:(

My tent held up well, some of the other guys weren't so lucky.

But it just makes everything miserable...

I think the humidity level in my garage is about 100% right now
