I explained to you where the frame clearence is in another post. It is 26 1/2" at the frame by the front door. Find a stock '05 Taco and measure the distance from the ground and the frame by the front door, subtract that figure from 26 1/2" and the sum will be the amount of "lift" that was achieved by what we did to the truck. I'm not interested in that figure, since it does nothing for what we were trying to achieve with this build.
I have 40" tires and a stock Taco has 31" tires. Thats 9" at the rear axle if I had kept the stock axle. I have a shaved Dana 60 so those numbers won't apply. See now why I'm not concerned with "lift" amount numbers.

Ok. After we got the tube bed finished, it was time to do the rear fenders. We wanted to be able to take the rear fenders off for tough trails so we built frames that could be removed with just 4 bolts. Then we attatched the fiberglass to the frames.

To make all this work, we had to have extra lights that would work when the fenders were off. So I got some truck lights, an '05 Tacoma mini wirig harness for the rear lights and fabbed them together so that when the fenders come off, I unplug the stock rear lights and plug in the the truck lights and I'm all legal

In this picture you can see both the stck rear lightsand the custom lights added
    [IMG]

Here is how the fenders are held onto the frames. It's probably the sturdiest way to hold the fenders on yet still easy enough to take them off the frame if need be.

Here is a picture we took to see just how much flex we had in the front. Thats 46" high from the ground to the bottom of the tire and the rear tires are still on the ground.

Stay tuned for more.... and there is still alot more....

yes i fully understand u werent going for a certain lift, i was sayin that in response to someones smart ass comment . i get the whole sas , all i was lookin for was a straight answer but i got something else instead. im just tryin to figure out what imma have to do to fit 33x12.5x16rs without cutting , shaving , spending 55,000 bucks or any of that jazz, sorry if my questions are not the rt kind . i thought thats what this is about is learning. but i guess i was wrong.

Actually, if you go back and look at the questions you asked, you didn't ask what it would take to fit 33" tires on your truck. You asked specifically what kind of lift I had on my truck. Had you asked that question in the first place, you would have gotten a very simple answer like........ Add some spacers in the front and an add-aleaf in the rear and your set to go.;)

    See how simple that was.:D

I'm here to help. Just ask what you really want to ask and you'll get the answer your really looking for.

ok so i get side tracked, i still am not asking for anybodys smart ass mouth,if u find where i asked for that please show me and i will quickly edit it.
and to your reply i have studied and read and read and some can do it and some cant which i dont understand why some tacomas are made differntly then others 05-09 but that seems to be the case. some have to cut and some dont with 3" up front and 2 aals in the back roughly. so no one can give me a straight answer , so i have to figure out what i can and cant do before i waste money ordering parts finding out they wont fit and bla bla bla. its not that simple man. so i have to ask other questions. so basically the reason u can do it is because the solid axles are wider/fiberglass fenders and so on?

some can fit it and some cant because some tires are wider than others and some wheels stick the tire out further...it really will depend on what wheels and tires you want to run

Good question. The reason some can do it and some can't with the same amount of lift comes down to the tires and rims. If you go with the type of backspacing that the stock wheels have you'll run into all sorts of problems when your putting on larger tires because it keeps the tire close to the body. You'll want a wheel that has less backspacing than your stock wheels have.

What is backspacing you ask???? That is the distance from the rear face of your wheel, the point that touches your wheel mount surface and the back lip of your wheel. I'm not sure what the backspacing is on the stock wheels are but you want less so it pushes your wheels away from the truck. Another words you want a deep dish type of wheel.

    Hope that helps.

rt , yes but less backspacing i ran into problems with clearing calipers using 16x8 rims which is what i want to use. seems that steelies are the only way to go for people like me with saw2.5s at about 3" up front and 1-1/4 spidertrax and about 2.5" lift in rear.but they look horrible so im tryin to figure out what else there is i can do to fit a wider tire.
