I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
So i did the 2low mod and I haven't really seen any clear writeup on it so here it is.

This is for the push button 4wd only the J shifter is a little more involved.

There is a blue plug on the driver side of the transfer case unplug it and wrap it up to keep water and dirt out and mod done. :D

Now you can push the 4wd shifter into low gear and the ADD will not engage. and if you ever want to go back just plug it back in.

looking at that im sure if your feeling adventurous you could cut into that and run a toggle switch in the cab to control that cause maybe i forget i disconnected in and im knee deep in the mud and i have to crawl under and plug that back in? hell no. the switch would be FTMTW

Nice, I've heard about this mod, but it seemed like it was way more involved than just that lol.

Yeah all you have to do is push the button and your in 4wd. I made sure it all worked when I did it. Because I read that you front drive line would still turn in 2low and Ive proven that wrong by having my buddy look under my truck wile in 2low the front drive line does not turn until you hit the 4wd button and are locked into 4wd.

So do you still have 4wd High when you simply press the button in like you normally would?

Basically my understanding of this 'mod' is that by putting the lever in 4low without pressing the button, this will make it be in low gear, but only in 2wd. Now, if you were to press the button, then put it into 4low, you will still have 4low from what it sounds.

    Do I have this correct?

I believe you have it correct. Not shifted into low you will be in 2wd high or or 4wd high if you push the button. Shifted into low you will be in 2wd low until you push the 4wd button then you are in 4wd low.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
That would be handy for towing/backing into a tight space, or pulling a boat(with a manual trans). 1st gear high is too fast for that.
I'm going to have to try that one.

Be kind of nice I suppose for starting out on a steep hill when you've got a trailer or heavy load in the back, but then again I don't how it would be on the drivetrain to then swap it back into high while on the fly like that.

Only one problem with this mod for those TRD guys. When you put the truck in 4lo before this mod. That connector is the ground that also allows the locker to activate.;) A variation of the Grey wire mod must be done in order for you locker to function after you do this.

Or just do BFA's inline spaceship switch and call it a day.

Ahh, that would make sense. I was wondering if doing this would disrupt the activation of the locker somehow.

Yeah I forgot about that you will need the grey wire mod to use your locker.
