Im just asking seeing who has thier muffler dumped or cut right off after the muffler. I have a Flowmaster 40 single in/out with stock piping and stock headers, 3.4L . And it sounds good but i wish it could sound better. It sound really deep and at times it sounds kinda like tin cans LOL or at least thats what ive been told. At really high Rpms it sounds Sweet. Maybe it should be dumped at the axle.

Wish it could sound like this

my buddy thats a mechanic said something that exhaust has to exit beyond the passneger compartment, and since the bed is a cargo area and not meant for passengers, it's kinda sorta legal.

idk, the place that inspected my truck this year (not my buddies shop) passed me without question.

all of the counties surrounding the one my truck is registered in doesn't require emissions, but since pittsburgh is in the same county my truck is in, i have do deal with that shit.

but luckily mechanics here dont care, as long as it passes the OBDII test they dont care.

I found this maybe a month or two ago cause my new exhaust sounded like fucking shit! I stuck with one set of cats, TRD CBE, doug thorleys, and powerstick and it changed everything.

Just like steve 0 77 said,
I already have my welding done, but if I did it again I would cut the muffler off and put one of these things on to replace....nothing else.

What would sound better with the flowmaster 40 , dumped after the axle or above it?

Mines dumped...I'm running the Flow Master Super 44 though and it sounds mean! It has a nice growl and deep tone to it! It does have a mean cab drone though at highway speeds

I have a fm 40 dumped right at the axle. It was cut then i added a rundown to route it better. No diff between two. Is very deep and loud. Sounds mean and can set off sensitive alarms lol. Better than when the pipe was welded out to the bumper. btw mine 3.4l too crew cab
