I have the DRLs on my '10 - they stay on with parking lights, but turn off with headlights

My 09 Sport doesn't have them. As mentioned, not standard on any model, just an option. Fine with me, I'm not a fan. Not bashing people who are pro DRL, but if you need DRL's to see a car, you shouldn't be on the road IMO. I've never been in a situation where I thought "wow I didn't see that car they should have had DRL's." At least with the Tacomas they're in the turn signal light, so if mine had come with them it wouldn't be the end of the world. I just hate when the DRL's are just low powered headlights.

In my personal experiences, DRL's on a lot of vehicles seem to do more harm than good, mostly with those companies who use low powered headlights as DRL's and DON'T pair them with automatic headlights. Can't tell you how many times I've seen new cars driving at night with no lights on in the back and just their DRL headlights up front because they don't realize all their lights aren't on and think they just have automatic headlights.

Mine has them, and I wish it didn't. I can't speak for anyone else, but I hunt and wish I could completely shut off my lights in the woods at night. I would probably still run lights during the daytime for safety though.

My sister has an FJ, and her DRL's are just dim headlights. It's definitely a problem because it's easy to think the headlights are on when the road is lit up in front of you.

Ha, this guy. Making false statements as usual without actually doing any research first to know that it is an option and not standard with any package.

I don't think it's as simple as just being able to see the vehicle. I agree with you that I've never been in that "wow, i didn't see that car without DRL" situation, but I think they're important simply because they draw more attention, beyond just the shape of a vehicle. Same concept as safety green shirts of construction workers IMO.

    -my Canadian truck has them
-you must start the truck and release the parking brake (with a manual transmission) before the DRL's will come on. With an automatic, not sure, maybe when you shift out of park or disengage parking brake
-they also act as turn signals
-there are good and bad about them. A vehicle in the distance - grey such as mine - shows up much better with them on.
-previous truck with 'half headlight' for DRL actually came in handy during blizzards as it would light the road, but not reflect light back from snowfall. There were occasions when you would forget to turn your headlights on though- and try and figure out why highbeams all of a sudden wheren't working!

As long as my headlights are shut off, my DTRL turn on immediately upon starting the truck.

I think they are standard with the SR5 package my "11" has them and it's not some thing I payed for above the SR5 package they are not on the invoice. If I did not have them I would still turn on my head lights all ready have to many people trying to run into me.

Mine does not have them. I asked about it when purchasing the truck and the sales guy told me they cannot add them at the dealership, if it came from the factory without the DRLs they could not add it on later. Sounds like he was blowing smoke up my ass. Imagine that...

    Too few to list.
Everything can be added at the dealership. I do know that they are added at the port and not actually at the dealership.

There's a complete how-to here on adding DRLs, including the OEM part numbers you have to order at the dealership.

I have it on y 2011. It is an option on these vehicles now. Sticker bump for DRL's is $40.

I bought them for my 2010 trd. I installed them and they only come on when the engine is running and the lights are off. They light the hazard lights up while driving in the daytime.
