A few months ago I had to kick one of my girlfriends out for skipping rent one too many times.

Roommate before her slammed every damn door in the house and door dinged me.

And my worst so far stole any and everything he could till I kicked him out.

So, aside from the extra cash, the occasional converrsation,

    Damn phone!

So I'm wondering, Are there actual good roommates out there that won't kick my dogs or wear my underwear on their head, or try to sell my shit? :)

Yes. You just need to do an interview style search first. No one should hurt your dogs or touch any of your belongings without your permission. And background checks are a good idea. Personally never room with someone you dont know. Why let someone elses bad habbits bring pain to you or your credit score (late payments).

I rather not have a roommate unless I'm seriously dating the woman. I like my freedom and not having my stuff stolen to much. Plus I only pay $355 a month on a 2 bedroom apt.

Check my build thread...too much to list.
Pros; Cheaper rent/utilities per person, conversation, people to hang out with and or party.
Cons; Late for rent, messy (also bad personal hygiene), eat your food, dishonest/steal, break your stuff.
I guess you just have to pick better people to be your roommate...Have a interview process or something. I've had both good and bad ones but it comes down to you allowing them to live with you. I've also learned that friends aren't always the best roommates like your issue. They tend to think they can get away with a lot bad stuff.

I have two other housemates and they are all great. One of them is my college buddy, and the other I found on craigslist, made sure he had a job, checked his pay stubs, etc, and he's great!

when you say, "clean the bathroom," this is what's heard:

guy roommate hears: "clean the bathroom"

girl roommate hears: "clean the bathroom you dirty bitch, you don't do shit in this house"

I would only take a roomate for money reasons. My last set of roomates were great. until one of them broke up with her B/f and she drunkedly forced her way into my room

The only problem I see with this is that she had to force her way into your room...

True statement. Living with random people is always a better idea. As a previous post said, get to know the person first and see if you can tolerate them and their habits.

ALso IMO, not hanging out with roomates works wonders. I only see my roomates when I'm in the house and we get along great. If i saw them any more than that i'd be sick of 'em.

I have lived alone and with roommates. The splitting of bills are nice, but nothing beats living by yourself. You come and go as your please. There aren't any messes you have to worry about cleaning up that aren't yours. You don't have to worry about walking in on your roommate taking care of business...
