Significant others parents?

Do you like your significant others parents? Dislike? Cant Stand em?

I don't particularly care for my girlfriends parents and i certainly dont respect them because of how they treat her. I know it must be worse when I am not around but I wouldnt put up with the stuff they say to her. For the most part I just keep my mouth shut though because it is easier.

 

Better off keeping your mouth shut. It's a no win situation.

 

^my gf parents well her dad is like that...I think he has anger problems...always mad at something...

 

For me it's actually the other way around. I love my wife's parents. They do so much for us and are all around great people. Now my mom on the other hand won't even talk to me or her grandchild becuase she doesn't like my wife, but my dad is awesome.

 

The parents come along for the ride. Mouth shut except where you can help her is best course.

 

My in-laws are ok, like the dad, hes way cool! The mom, well, I dont think she cares for me. I dont really paint the picture of the "perfect house wife." But, that makes it kinda fun!

 

I've learned to keep my mouth occupied with their alcohol.

Win-Win situation all round.

Can't stand my wife's mom. I think it is a rule of nature, very seldomly is there an exception to this rule.

My inlaws are a rare couple...
Dad is Jehova witness, Mother is Mormon. How it works? i dunno...but it just does.
My wife's dad is laid back and super cool. Her Mother can be nice, but always tries to run the shots and everything has to be done her way. Even through planning our wedding...My Wife and I would love something and book it, She would come in with " well if it were my wedding i would..." Towards the end My wife and I blew up and told her what time it was..
Things have been ok since we have been married and I only have to see her once every few weeks or so.

I think 85% of people dont get along with/dont like being around the mother in law

 

My in-laws are great. They have always been there when we needed help. They are getting up there in years and soon my wife and I will have to look out for them. Its easy to do when you actually like the in-laws.

 

Im dating an old man, and I am much younger then his ex-wife. His parents love me! (and they are pretty cool too so I cant complain!)

This is when it turns bad. They are all okay in moderation, but moving in

 

If you plan to stay with your girl for the long-term, keep your mouth shut and do whatever her parents want, within reason. No sense letting pride ruin a good thing, and when push comes to shove, Lord knows it's you who will be out the door, not them. And definitely do not butt into a conversation/dialogue that's just between your GF and her parents. Smother them with kindness no matter how they treat you -- it will be good for everyone (your GF will definitely appreciate it) and good practice for dealing with all the other assholes in the world. Obviously I don't know all the details so this is my knee-jerk response. Just my $0.02

 

i really like my girlfriends parents. but sometimes they just make no sence at all with their rules and i really want to say something because they are very unfair.

but of course i wont

 

They are fine when they "girlfriends", but if and when you marry, come see me then and tell me what you think.
