snatch block

can somebody please explain to me how to use a snatch block i've seen them just never used or seen one be used i cant figure it out i believe the proper term for me is ra'tard? thanks for any info

 

You attach your block to a stable object (tree, using a tree saver), run your cable from your winch through the block and back to your vehicle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td92wGxvujU

Also very good for pulling friends from around a bend. When your not able to be directly in front or behind them. Run the cable from your winch to your block then to friends truck. Attach the block to a fixed object again and pull away.


This drawing shows a typical Double Line:

A Double Line as used for self recovery using an anchor point such as a tree.

Indirect Double Line PullIndirect pulling may be required because of obstacles. The pulley block is attached to the load and the wire rope is attached to an anchor point offset from the direction in which the load is to be moved. Note that this procedure is not recommended unless necessary as the winch pulling power and line speed will decrease as the angle between the wire rope increases.


Single Line Pull

Whilst this configuration uses a pulley block it is only a single line pull and the pulling power will be as the winch line pull rating as described above.

I used 4 block's to lift this F550
