yeah i have heard a ton of cops get shot and killed on duty in the last couple years in philly. i think its funny how this guy had a tape recorder on his person and it happened to be recording before the cop even said anything!seems like bull shit to me.

i lived in center city for years and never once had a problem with a police officer. shit i think they are way more forgiving than there nj counter parts. sure he could have handled it better, but he didn't and lets face it the guy was either an asshole or crazy paranoid walking around with a tape recorder. so when he walked by the cop looking all shifty an shit with a gun wtf do you expect.

anyone who thinks that inner city cops have it easy i cordially invite you to take a stroll on foot in the scenic north philadelphia section of the city lol. there you will find quaint sets stocked with only the finest in human garbage automatic weapon toting ass hats who sell drugs right on the street. to see it on tv is one thing but, to have be in your face is another. parts of the north look like the slums of iraq to say it's pretty gangster would be an understatement.

51 and Parkside? I work in the 19th District... You know what I mean when I say good luck to all these people who want to open carry. Its easy to open carry in a sleepy suburb but if you want to disprove my argument stand there at 51 and parkside for five minutes after dark and see how you fare. Probably not as well as if you were unarmed even. You wont just get your ass kicked, youll get shot and all your shit taken. Cant tell you how many bodies ive been over with empty holsters and permits tucked into their wallets. You all read case law and know its your right to carry openly, no argument from me as to it being a law here in Philly you can. But use some common sense people, dont stir the pot because you have nothing else to do like whoever that douchebag was with the tape recorder.

As for carrying in the area of 51st and Parkside, done it many times when I walked from 34th and Powelton to the Mann Music Center to see concerts when I lived in Philly. North on 34th, Landowne Ave to South Concourse Drive and then back the same way. I wouldn't have walked to and from the Mann without a gun on my hip.

I also carry both a audio and video recorder when I carry in Philly, on the advise of 1) my lawyer; and 2) my cousin who is a chief of police of a township in Montogomery County.

Is compensating for something. Open carry and expect to get stopped and questioned by the police. They have a legitimate reason to stop and detain you.

they do? where do you get that from?? in Ga it definitely is not(being licensed is an element of the offense and not an affirmative defense here) and you know the Supreme Court has ruled there is no "gun exception" to the 4th amendment....

The police may not stop you in rural Georgia for open carry. But if you OC in most major metropolitan areas, you are asking to get stopped and questioned. The difference between OC and CC is, IMHO, a question of machismo. There is no reason to OC other than you want to show the world that -- hey, I own a gun and I want you to know that.

I just saw a couple hiking down a trail in a National Park open carrying. Most of the people around them were pretty pissed and believe me, both could have been disarmed pretty easily. Two guys approached them and told them to put their guns back in their car. I thought the guy was going to piss his pants. They shouted something about their rights but jumped in their car and drove off. A ranger observed it and said that he had witnessed something similar last year.

The majority of Americans do not want people open carrying around them. It does not make anyone feel safer and the person carrying looks like an idiot. If you are confronted by a group of unarmed people who ask you to leave, your best option would be to comply.
