Read this thread, tons of great info. Also i would recomend moving the template back about half an inch. i did this and got the intake in the center of the factory hole, no trimming of the inner finder at all. but most importantly take your time and read this thread all the way through, and understand what you need to do before you start

Nope. I love mine. Just because our trucks aren't new doesn't mean we care less about them, but I can understand your hesitance to drill out your fender.

Read this thread then test fit test fit test fit.

    Strange vibrations from where?

Water in your a-pillar...that's a good one. Your a-pillar is already rusting out from the back cause water seeps in under the roof gaskets. Take a look at my pics and you can see rust in the brand new holes.

I'm not as worried about drilling into the fender as I am about not having to open the fender wall. Also doing this in a afternoon and how the best way to get it connected to the intake box.

Clean flowing air with the least amount of bends is the best.

The guys who did the install this way seem to have the best gain in mpg efficiency from what I have read.

Is the 3" to 2" reducer easy to get?

Would be the same as a 2.7 I would think. I researched this for a while and it seems like it would be easy. A couple guys did it to theirs on here and said it was a cake. If you find an easy adapter I imagine it will look sweet too. Fresh and factory!

For the 4" to 3" reducer did you guys have to tighten them alot cause I found that they measure about 4.5" & 3.5" inside, IIRC

Yes on the pipe side but not too much on the box side.

Oswego do you have a a scangauge or anything like that? I was curious if you knew the intake temp you were getting versus the outside air since you wrapped yours in the exhaust wrap.

With my EcoRoute HD tied to my Garmin I have a set of gauges that monitor various things and one of them is intake air temp. When the engine is cold the temp are usually the same but at running temp they get to 12 degrees apart. Typically the air in the intake is 12 degrees cooler than outside. But it is crazy to see sometimes just how hot the intake air is when the truck sits somewhere after running and it is hot outside.

Nope. I don't imagine the wrap is doing much, but I have no way to check. I needed the wrap for my DT Y pipe and knew I wouldn't use it all so I figured WTF might as well get the coolest air possible in the engine. I think next winter I am going to turn the snorkel around. I have read that the 4.o V6 struggles to keep warm in very cold temps so the CAI with ram air might not be the best idea when it's 0* out.

I think I would hate seeing those MPGs constantly on a SG if I ever got one. So I probably shouldn't get one...?

He is probably going uphill. Craig gets pretty good mpg from what I remember. My last tank was better then that on average.

I love mine... better than all the single gauges I had in my 1st gen...

Actually it is set for Instant MPG not Average MPG...
I will start tracking the MPG per tank again after I go back to work on the 27th.
Got plenty of data posted for pre-snorkel...
