Is there any way to enable or rig the ability to remote lock my 09 tacoma with the engine running? When it's a hundred degrees in the summer time, and I got my dogs in the truck, I have always left it running for the AC to keep them cool. It just beeps when I try it. Now if someone did try to get in, they would get shredded, but these days.....that nimrod would be able to sue me for having "mean" dogs in a vehicle they were planning on stealing from!
I liked it better when I did all the thinking for MY vehicle, but the stupid folks have ruined all that for us.

Yeah, there's a lot of safety mechanisms built in so you won't lock the keys in the truck.

The only way I've been able to lock it while the keys are in the ignition - is to physically lock the door with a key from the outside.

you could get an alarm with remote start. park and lock with the dogs, and then remote start it (you can run the a/c and the doors remain locked).

I have a Viper 5900, works great for this, I do it all the time. I have mine set to only stay on for 20 minutes though. It can be extended if necessary as well. Just make sure you dont leave your door open when you lock it, the alarm doesnt like that.

And make sure your dogs dont open the door and get out ;) hehe.
