confused about suspension

    Anytime you change the front end geometry (correct term?) you have to get an alignment. When you start lifting/lowering a truck you make the wheels lean inward or outward. Make sense?

    You will have to get the springs compressed to adjust the C clips. My advice is to take it to an auto shop or PepBoys or something - somewhere that has a wall mounted hydraulic spring compressor. It'll cost you around $40.

    Of course, that's assuming you have another vehicle to take to the auto shop while your suspension is apart... :)

    so i can just go to an auto shop and ask them to maximize the adjustable shocks and align it..?

    i am not sure wat c clips are either.?

    The c clips are what you are going to adjust on your billy's. Take a look at them and notice the rings, that is what you adjust the c clips onto.

    Look at this picture:

    That little part that's sticking out surrounding the shock is the C clip. It is removed and placed into the next slot above it, setting it to 2.5".

    I would say anything over $100 would be pushing it. For my area anyway.

    If you take them off the truck and drive them to a auto shop (in another car of course), they should charge you $40-$50 to adjust the springs. And alignment should cost anywhere between $60-$80. If you just take your truck to a shop and have them do everything, it'll be more expensive.

    you can't get adjustable shocks for the back. you have to get an AAl, block, or new leaf pack.

    At 2.5", 33s might be pushing it. You'd probably have to trim quite a bit. I have 3" of lift, my tires are 32.83" tall and I had to do some minor trimming...

    That's completely up to you. I think it's worth it, but it really just depends on how you'll use the lift as to whether or not it's worth it to you...

    I'm at 2.5" with my Camburg C/Os and am running 33s - need to trim some after coming down from a 3" lift, but it will be minor... just like with a 3" lift.

    It's only 1/2" difference... thats about:

    +1... "33s" vary betweeen manufacturers, so it really depends on what brand tire you're running as to how much trimming will be required. My BFG M/T KM2s are considered 33s, but they're actually only 32.83" tall.
