With our current weather pattern here I'm thinking the same way... :rain:

I have garbage bags, ziploc bags, and tarps. I usually will put my camera and lens in ziploc bags but sometimes if its humid thats a bad idea too...

$80?! Amazing deal! It's showing me $160. You fired it up yet?

I either purchase or "borrow" some of those pellet bags that suck up the moisture and throw them in my camera bag. You ever use those? I haven't yet put my camera in a ziploc when I'm NOT using it - only if I'm actually shooting in the rain. (My camera bag has a rainfly.) Is it humid up in MT?

I would just to be safe and have that peace of mind.
x2 I carry a few of the huge industrial bags.
I also have a dry bag I keep stuff like my phone, wallet, keys in a little pouch in it, it also holds my mummy bag/blanket/other crap I don't want to get wet.

Going on my trip this weekend! Leave early as hell tomorrow morning. Weather looks decent. Chance of thunderstorms all weekend but... I can deal with it.

are you talking about the silica baggies like in shoe boxes and such?
not really humid...just enough to mess with electronics in certain situations. Mostly the problem is that if it does rain it heats up really quick afterwards and gets humid for a short time. Also, I spend a lot of time in Yellowstone that walking through the steam clouds from the thermal areas is hell on a lens. and the steam is laced with all sorts of minerals and the ph can be off too. I always have a filter on my lens (I'd rather get waterspots on the $20 dollar filter than on the $$$ lens!)

Yeah, definitely on the industrial bags! Small bathroom bags for other stuff (like my camera bag for added protection). Have fun on your trip!

YES, silica! Thank you - my mind is fading fast... ;o) You use those? I "borrow" the shoebox ones for typical stuff, but have purchased the better ones for more intense trips.
x2 on the filter. Aren't you worried about getting that steam/water on the body - seeping into the crevices? I've never been to Yellowstone, so have no idea what's it's like...

 Aren't you heading out too?

I have the REI Camp Bed 2.5. Its comfy and keeps me warm...as long as I don't scoot down (cold feet) or roll off of it . I have the 'regular' length and almost wish I had gotten the long. I'm 5'5 and I tend to move around a lot so at some point in the night I wake up with some part of me hanging over the edge and freezing.

And with that I must say good night...got to hit the road early tomorrow!

I've got a standard Therma Rest. Am looking at the NeoAir, though. Eh! They all tend to pop after a while. Warm nights means sleeping on top of the sleeping bag, too, which is comfy.

Have fun and be safe, MTgirl!

Its a pacific outdoor but I can't find it anymore. The one that is exactly like it is the big agnes mummy pad. I like though, like Lisa, I slip off it a lot. Mainly because I move around as well. Its super light and packs up really nice and small

On my way to the red river gorge! Woot!

Just got home... im sore as hell, everything is wet, rained all weekend. Hiked about 15 miles total with nasty mud, tons of straight up and down terrain, did a lot of climbing on the mountain. Went through this badass cave that you had to scale the walls to get around waterfalls, holes, crevices that you couldn't fit through, then climb up a series of stalagmites about 20 ft and out of a hole in the ground. What a great time! Despite the rain, it was nice. The beginner backpacker that was with did great as well. Didn't hear her bitch not once! In fact she said it was great and wants to go again.

    Pics/ vid to come.

I also need a better tarp for the hennessey hammock... I got rained on every night.
