    I hate all of you.

I looked at my schedule, and with work, weddings, and conferences I'm not going to be able to get out until AUGUST!:annoyed:

As for the sleep pads, I have the Pacific Outdoor Equipment Ether Thermo 9. I don't think they make it anymore, though. However, it is amazing. Light, small and not too difficult to blow up.

Also, I've decided with the addition of my puppy dog, I need to invest in a 3-person tent. I'm thinking the Big Agnes Fly Creek UL3, but damn that seems pricey.

Anyone got any recommendations for similar tents? I like that it's lightweight and has the igloo-style opening. I feel I lose too much vestibule on the side-opening tents.

No damage to the truck - I checked the paint and mirrors for bite marks
Overall it was more funny than anything...but yeah waking up to heavy breathing outside of your tent that has no windows etc was a little scary.

I tend to have a lot of close encounters with animals but this was a first!

    Exactly!

BA Burn Ridge? Its half the price...

If you're car camping, something wider would be better. Much.

figured I will write a review on all my new equipment!

Merrell Moab Ventilator Mid (non gortex) waterproof boot- Wonderful boot! vents great! I was over some extremely technical terrain with my packs and had no issues. The waterproofing is awesome too. While in a cave, I had to climb up a waterfall. I thought for sure I would be coming out with wet boot but shockingly, not a single drop went in my boots (I had pants on too). I highly recommend this boot!

Alite Monarch chair- awesome chair. Super light, easy to set up, easy to pack away, very comfy. Dont try sitting in it while drunk....

Jetboil 1.5L boiling pot- very nice addition to the Jetboil system. I was able to cook a ton of stuff very quickly and evenly.

Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter- Never got to fully test this hammock out but asked my partner who slept in it all weekend what she thought. She seemed to like it but said it is extremely difficult to get comfy in it (I have this same issue with my Hennessey as well). Otherwise, she seemed to like it and I even caught her snoring a few times. :p

yeah we had a great time. Rained all weekend but we made the most of it and still had a good time. Hiking in wearing rain gear is never a good start to the weekend. Hiked in wearing it, hiked out almost having to wear it (if we left about 15 mins after we really did, the gear would have been on)

The winters are pretty brutal but the summers.... :D

I think its snowing down there today though...the mountains were completely covered in clouds and it was only about 35* in camp this morning.

Oh but it can be yours too for the low low price of $25 (entrance permit) + $20/night for the camp site.

Now you know why I wanted to camp where I did...who wouldn't want to have that view outside your tent?!?!?

 I could probably do without the elk but everything else I could accept! :p Knowing my luck, the thing would scare a fart out of me or something stupid like that and he would trample me.

Well you see, I live in Texas, that could be a bit of a drive if you hadn't noticed, long drives=multiple gas tanks = lots and lots of $$$$= out of my price range:p

    LOL
Something like this is pretty rare - usually the biggest animal you see in camp is a chipmunk. Not exactly terrifying

I wasn't really scared, he seemed at ease being that close to me. My neighbors were freaked out though. I was just sitting at my camp, talking to him while my neighbors - about 6 of them - were standing in the road behind me about 30ft away. they kept saying 'he's kinda close' 'don't you think you should move?' (I was sitting in my chair next to the fire pit). I was talking to him and trying to keep an eye on him without making direct eye contact - I thought as long as he knew I was there and I wasn't being threatening then I was fine. If I had stood up he could have taken that as an aggressive move and things could have gone bad very quickly.
