Painted Windows

Title says it all. My truck was covered in a fine mist of white exterior building paint. The paint is not noticable on the paint but the tinted windows look pretty bad. I have placed a claim on the damage through the painters and hopefully will recieve a check for repairs then just do it myself. Could I just use a razor blade and be super careful to get this paint off? What options do I have for removal?

Only use razor on glass.just finger nail fuck all the paint spots on paint.a good body shop could wet send and polish the whole truck

 

Get a spray can of carb cleaner, should get it right off..

 

You say there it doesnt show on paint and make it sound like your concern is the windows. So I have to ask, is the paint on the inside or something?! Windows are tinted from the inside so unless the paint got on the inside there would be no issues using a razor blade to get paint off the outside of the windows.

 

claybar should work pretty good for removing most if not all of the paint. I have used brake parts cleaner to remove road striping paint from the lower portion of a customer's truck but that's extreme. I would assume the paint is water based so cleanup should be pretty straightforward.

Yeah the paint that's is on the actual body paint isn't that noticeable. But the tinted windows look rough. Carb cleaner works well then? Might try that route.

 

No when they were painting my office building they "accidentally" over-sprayed the parking lot and damaged like 10 cars.

 

If you go that route, make sure you clean the carb cleaner off well and re-apply some wax. Carb cleaner will completely strip everything from the vehicle's clear coat.

 

There is no tint on the outside of your windows. Its all stuck to the inside of the windows. You can use a razor blade on any part of the "outside glass" for paint. Paint is what most dealers use on car windows when they advertise and dont use a carboard type sign. At the end they simply scrape it off with a razor blade. The dryer you keep the glass the less mess you will have to clean up when it comes to paint on the "outside" of the windows.

 

i'm not a professional by any means, but i would go with a clay bar. it would work perfect and seems less harsh than using carb cleaner. either way, you will want to do a wax coat to protect the clear-coat.

 

I do not plan on using the carb cleaner on the paint just the windows. I will clay bar the paint when I have time. I just want to clean up these windows ASAP.

Total that bitch out and then go find the guy who oversprayed and punch his fucking lights out.

 

I would make the painters fix their mistake. They damaged your property, why should you go through the effort and expense to fix their mistake?
They carry expensive insurance just for these types of situations. If you want to fix it yourself, get an estimate and and keep the insurance check to offset your materials cost and labor.
