Yea, the BA Insulated Air will be better during the winter months. Obiviously because of the insulation inside, lol.

But here is a link to someone selling the Clearview for $30 + shipping.

thanks! Yeah those boots are awesome. What surprised me most was when I stuck both my feet in the waterfall inside the cave and came out bone dry.
It is right next to Osborne Bend at the Concrete Bridge. Yep thats the one. It was extremely rough getting back to camp. A lot of the trails got washed out with the recent storms and a ton of trees were knocked over. This was my first time in that cave in probably 12 years. Used to be able to walk through the whole thing without any problems. lol. Did you ever go back to the cliff (I call it Eagle's Nest. Not sure what the true name is for it though) where you overlook the river and everything? It is beautiful back there. I like that it is not an established trail. Not many people go back there.

All right here are some pictures. It was car camping so we did have some creature comforts. This was at the San Simeon Campgound and we visited Hearst Castle too. My buddy got his boys snipped so we didn't get to do any hiking, but the beach was a 1/4 mile away from camp  IMG_1497_86d2ea7a978c1c2a231262e42e469f111c2e26d7.jpg

Nice. I use a Jetboil (similar principle). Awesome stoves. Once upon a time, I would take "real" food backpacking. Now it's a Jetboil, freeze dried, and Starbucks Via instant coffee. Gotten lazy in my old age. But it's awesome not having to do dishes!

That campground at San Simeon looks pretty awesome.

Tours of the castle are pretty amazing. Especially the last stop, the indoor pool.

    Thanks for those Brian.

not really tired of the whisperlite, but its a tad bit heavy for long AT hikes. i dont know if im gonna sell it or keep it for base camping and SHTF scenarios. I just ordered a trangia stove, so that should lighten my load a bit. then im replacing my heavy coleman max cook set with either a heini pot or a snowpeak cook set.

that should be nice. You do the mountain house type meals right? I would just get one of the snow peak sets. I have heard pretty good things about them.

I was just at Costco and they had a 10 pack of Mountain House meals for 39.99. I've been drooling over the Snow Peak cooking set too...

Ya'll ever try mre's? I was on a job that required them, and now I'm hooked. You only need water, and one pouch can fill you up all day because of all the calories. Food tastes much better than I first thought they would.

This is what we used for work, and what I've recently purchased for an emergency (earthquakes) - also stick one in my backpack whenever hiking just in case:
