Save save save, been saving for a while now for a lift, tires and wheels. Want to do that all at once. Other things keep getting in the way of my saving though...
I.E. Purchasing an M416 trailer today, thats coming out of my lift fund. But, its an awesome deal and I just couldn't let the guy turn the trailer into a cattle feed trough. I'm saving a piece of military history right? :)

I try to take advantage of the 3 holidays; Christmas, tax return and birthday . Just small things though. For expensive items I use my credit card with cash to back it up in full.

    Def. cash.

While we're on the subject of credit vs. cash I just want to say that I hate irresponsible people. My wife and I have paid cash for everything, from fully paid with cash college tuition, cars, big diamond rings and vacations. Now we are trying to buy a house with a big down payment WHICH WE HAVE SAVED LOTS OF MONEY FOR ($17k plus) and it has turned into a huge hassle because my wife has no credit history whatsoever and I have one single credit card. WTF, we are the WINNERS because we have zero debt and people who finance every effing thing get all the money they want. Fucking ridiculous.

Cash. Got myself into trouble with credit cards when I was younger. Got them paid off and now I just squirrel money back for mods/tires/guns. If I don't have it in squirrel money when a deal comes up I just wait and keep saving. Savings is for emergencies only and I put as much as possible into it every paycheck.

I did keep all my cc's open though. Turns out they help your credit score out even if you don't use them. So they're not all that bad. YOU just have to be responsible with them.

in my early 20's i would put a lot of stuff on credit and "try to pay it off". eventually, the amount just snowballed and got out of control. funny thing was i finally got a wake up call by listening to Dave Ramsey on the radio and his money managing advices. i accidentally stumbled upon his show and got hooked.

i paid off my debts and i only do mods now that i can pay for with cash. being debt free makes you feel a lot richer:D.

I tried pimping myself out but it's a hard sale in a rural community!

So I cash a paycheck from my day job once in a while and put it in small envelope that reads "mod money" in my safe. If I have to order something it goes on my card and money gets deposited from said envelope into checking to pay for the afformentioned mods.

I have been saving every which way I can to be able to put a set of wheels and hopefully some good meats on them. Rather than charging for it, it makes me try harder to come up with the money. ;) Only problem is, I am lacking motivation due to the fact of the tires. I mean it is not justified to buy new tires until the factories are shot. :( And I don't put a lot of miles on it. But I should have plenty of cash by then, as long as I don't spend it on other mods. Plus this way the wife (hopefully and she knows I'm saving btw) wont thrash me for spending a big chunk for something needless in her eyes. ;)

Anyway, I have sold a couple of things, cashed in some change I have been saving for some time, started saving aluminum cans and every time I can save a few bucks by any means that I would have spent anyway, and pocket that. Via coupons or whatever way possible. So far in 4 months I'm up to about $200. At that rate I should be in good shape by the time my tires are done.

I work 2 jobs. Pay Cash or have cash and use OPM (Other Peoples Money) Like 12 months same as cash. I saved up for my wheels and tires then found a good deal at Discount Tire. They had a 12 months same as cash using their credit card. So used their money even though I had the cash in hand. Will pay it off in 4 months just because I CAN.

I use cash if i can, if its something online i want, i use my credit card and then pay it off, i get a "point" for every dollar i spend, spend a certain amount and i can redeem for account credit or whatever, i figure if im gonna spend the money might as well get something extra out of it.....
