agree, i love it how the public jumps all over everything law enforcement does, put yourselves in our shoes.... I love it how when an officer, deputy, agent, or whatever, does something, the public picks them appart and law enforcement is evil, UNTIL that scary guy in the ski mask is breaking through your window...... the only draw back of our job, being public protectors, is the public who knows nothing about anything that we deal with, are being our critics....

i have OC'd in Atlanta and never had a problem ive OC'd in Philly and never had a problem...GA is a non-traditional OC state meaning you have to be licensed to carry openly unless youre an exempt individual like military or police etc

The majority of the public doesnt understand anything about gun laws unless they own a gun. They see someone open carrying and they think they are a criminal and is about to rob a bank. which is probably as far from the truth as possible. Someone who is going to do something illegal with a gun isnt going to be showing it off on there hip before they do something. The public is making OC to be a bad thing. The only people who OC are people who know they are allowed or are required to.

I am not chris Clemens lol but I do know him, good guy. I'm finishing some schooling that I need to transfer into the aviation unit, hopefully will go through in the next couple years. Air Tach 1 & 2 are always in west division helping us chase people. If you feel comfortable carrying there by all means go for it, its Your right. Just be prepared for a 911 call for person with a gun and a lights and siren resonce. That's what that area is about, just how it is. During a stop to check a permit we are told to temporarily disarm And unload your weapon while running your permit number, and if everything comes back in good standing I reload it for you and see you on your way no harm done. And yes, when I see people open carrying I get nervous too. Makes me very uncomfortable.

"There is no reason to OC other than you want to show the world that -- hey, I own a gun and I want you to know that." Really? that's a new one on me. I might as well make a T-shirt that says "I own a gun and I want you to know that" would that be safer?

The majority of Americans do not want people open carrying around them. It does not make anyone feel safer and the person carrying looks like an idiot. LMFAO Even though I CC, not OC, am I still an idiot? And I carry twwoooo guns, Kmacafee. Put your VAG away.

yep! my grand father and his father where both police officers in philadelphia. now a days cops are getting shot and killed more than ever in the city. it's easy to talk a this negative nonsense about police, but there are parts of phila that are so fucked up it looks like the slums of iraq!

buildings bombed to shit and some of the most thugged out mofo's standing right out on the street yelling in your car window for what kind of drugs they have out. lol and lets not forget about all the weapons these ass holes are packing.

so i would invite those of you who talk shit about the police in phily to not take a car ride, but rather a nice stroll down to the corner of hancock and cambria in north phila. and we will see if you don't either get shot raped or the ever loving shit beat out of you. cops deal with these scum bags every day i think it's amazing that they have any manners at all when in uniform.

Anyone who doesn't like OC where it is legal to do so can go shit in a hat. I don't OC much but if I was out for a hike somewhere and people got annoyed that was OCing, well that's too fucking bad.

I read only the first page of this thread and listened to the first 53 seconds.

Its legal to open carry. He was willing to give his info, the officer was out of line in asking him to get on his knees, and telling him he would fucking shoot him.

Because you don't know the laws doesn't mean that I will be treated like a criminal. What is going on is harassment and I should not have to tolerate it.
As an officer your job is to serve and protect not harass and threaten.

If you were driving your vehicle through town and had a cop stop you pointing a gun and telling you to lay down for no reason I'd bet most would be upset about that.
Same thing for us that carry. We are within our rights just as everyone else is.

I have spent 60+ days a year for the last decade camping and working in the back country. Not once, even in bear country, did I ever feel the need to carry a weapon.

To the average citizen, people who OC are either:'

    afraid of something;
    carrying something valuable; or
simply want to show the world how tough they think they are.

OC and CC users are introducing guns into places they are not necessary. A quick blow to the head and that gun is now there to do harm to others. Thankfully, most business owners are posting signs to keep guns out. I don't patronize businesses where OC are present -- a yahoo who shoots at paper targets wearing muffs is not prepared to use that gun safely in public. I don't care how many movies they've seen or NRA pamphlets they've read telling them so. The average citizen with a gun does not have the situational awareness to use it properly.

But its a right every person has. Thus we can exercise it if we choose. Move to Canada if you don't wish to have that freedom or you wish to remove that freedom from me.

haha so just because i go to the range and practice shooting my gun at a target your telling me i dont know how to use a gun safely? You must be out of your mind. And i dont know about up there in MN but in florida i have never seen a business put up a sign saying so firearms allowed. i will continue to CC and OC if the situation arises and i will also encourage it to other bc the one time you need it i am sure glad i will have a firearm to save my life or someone elses.

and why do you think that is .... ever since the economy tanked ive been getting pulled over and written up for bullshit that would have netted me warnings when we were doing ok

$193 no helmet ticket BACKING MY ATV OFF THE TRUCK is absolutely ridicilous, and if law enforcement continues to do this sort of thing, all it does is makes citizens like my self who are generally law abiding view law enforcement as revenue generators rather than good people who keep the peace.

What further concretes this for me, is my stereo was recently stolen out of my truck. Old days .... police officer or Community Service Officer would come take a report

Now ... told to fill out a report online after calling dispatch, said officer would follow up in 7 days .. its been 3 weeks .... fuck napa pd on that one.

Liberals do not understand the Constitution or the principles of freedom that this country was founded upon so there is no convincing those who can not comprehend the basic tenet that guns, freedom and America all go hand-in-hand. /threadjack

Btw, I agree with the notion that some of our domestic progressives would find Canada more preferable but I think Mexico is a better example of what a country with no guns in citizens hands is like so that might be a better option.

Well thats great for you. You choose not to exercise a right that's fine. Don't drag responsible gun owners down by saying we are yahoo's. I am more proficient with a long gun, carbine, or handgun and have more situational awareness than 95% of cops. however I am tired of shooting at paper, so if you're volunteering...

more of a reason to CC or OC in the city if there are all these hooligans running around. The cop took it too far. The guy was abiding by the law and it doesn't surprise me he got hassled by a douche bag cop.

Yeah that's one of them. If you shoot a cop and leave no other resolution that's what happens. Very unfortunate but if you knew the entire story several police were shot from the house occupants and it was unknown there were children inside. Also firefights were fired upon earlier in the day when they tried a "less than lethal" forced eviction method of pumping water into the house and flushing the occupants out. So... yeah. I don't blame them for the decision they made at all. Its easy to be captain hindsight until you have to deal with a real tactical problem.
