Fog Lights "a la Caribe Style"

Thanks fellas, I just did this in about an hour. The tooth pics worked great too. I used both this write up and Jasonleblond's and they were a great help. This was super easy!

did this mod today in about 30 mins. looks great thanks for all the info and pics on to the next mod

 

just noticed that my lights came on for a min or so then went off. anyone else have this happen.

 

They also take another 10 seconds to shut off once you open your door. No big deal

 

Just did this mod this afternoon, took me about an hour. Had some difficulty removing the bus harness, and releasing pin #21. Found it helpful to push up gently from underneath (red/black wire), push on the clip, and gently pull the pin from underneath. Now I can't wait to get some 3000K HID's in there!

Serious question - no BS. This morning about 2am I woke up to use the RR. Yes I am in the "Over 40 thread". As I walked back to my bedroom I saw a light outside. I looked out the window and my fog lights were on. By the time I put pants on and walked outside they were off again. I live back in the woods with hundreds of acres around me and very few neighbors. No one was near my truck. My dog would have alerted me if anyone had even tried to walk up.

Has anyone done the wire switch like we have on this thread and had their fogs come on mysteriously? I had left the button pushed in but they go off when the ignition is off just like the lights. Thanks for any help.

 

I know one of the many methods for this mod tied into a circuit that comes on about 4 hrs after the engine is turned off. Something to do with emissions I think. I'm not sure offhand if this method ties into the same circuit. I never paid attention to exactly which circuit did that.

 

Damn, really? then everyone would be experiencing the same thing. i wonder how long the circuit stays hot after it comes on? 4 - 6 hours? I parked it at 8:30pm and noticed the lights at 2am. Maybe others don't leave the button in either. Thanks for the thoughts

 

Thanks to Caribe for initial research and writeup and Mahalos to KalamaKid for the additional writeup and photos. Did the whole thing in about 45 minuntes. Works as advertised. Hardest part was seeing behind the wire loom since it only moves so far. Found that un-clipping the clip holding the wire bundle to the fender gave me a few extra inches of clearance.

 

I've noticed mine light up for about <5 seconds... It doesn't bother me. I just turn the switch off when I'm not using it.

 

Thanks. I guess I will just leave the button off when I'm not using them. I checked a few times last night and they were not on.

 

You got a full schematic of that power source we tapped into? Some kind of relay must click over every now and then. I know my hondas fan will just turn on randomly sometimes for a couple minutes.

 

I can't believe I'm talking to an AME about relays and fuses. Hell must have froze over last night lol Kidding

 

Yep. My fogs came on yesterday while I was washing the truck, about 5 hours after shutdown, and stayed on for about a minute. I used Caribe's method.

 

I finally did this mod. Everything went smoothly with the help of a scribe tool and the toothpicks method trick. Thanks Caribe Makaira and Kalamakid for sharing.
