I wish I had this rear seat. I think they wanted to add the center console so that's what messed up the flatness of everything. Our seats fold up individually and the console remains there, in the middle of everything.

JPmorris, thanks for the pics and the measurements. I think I'll do this sooner than my vacation.

I run with my sets in the "normal mode" I'm to tall (6'5") so when the rear of my seat is folded forward the drivers seat won't slide back as far cutting off a few inches in leg room in the front. I need all i can get!

I keep the seat cushion folded up and headrest folded down. I keep a toolbox behind of the driver's seat and the space behind the passenger seat is for carrying whatever. I personally like the little storage bin. I keep rope, a tow strap, and a few other random stuff in there. I originally wanted the double cab long bed but didn't want a whole line of people asking for rides too. Hate being the taxi among my friends..especially since I never get any gas money or even a thank you in return for hauling their asses around.

Well I went and looked at the DC tonight. I need to have the regular sized bed, not the short bed. So in order to trade my new truck, (gawd I can't believe I actually had that in mind) it would be about another 8k additional. He actually advised me not to do it.

Post on BST and I bet someone would swap interior rears with you. I've seen at least 1-2 threads of people who purposely swapped to the new 2011 interior so there are people out there who like the new design better.

It was a completely innocent question. I looked at it for a while but just couldn't tell what it was. Good to know,

i have a 35 dog who fits on the back seats perfectly. she loves it back there. so i keep the headrest down on the driver's side for visabilty the seat up for storage and my dog rides behind the passenger.

I couldn't agree more about the uselessness of the AC rear setup. So I did this. It is a much more useful space now. A year after I did this I also just removed the rear seats altogether and added a shallow subwoofer in a box on the back wall that doesn't take away much room, so I can still load large items across the cab.

Raylo's idea with a twist or should I say hinged. Threw this together with what was laying around the garage. I'll just paint this grey until I make another out of 1/8" aluminum and glue carpet on it.

Tore my back seats out and console, built a really simple but very sturdy plywood shelf. It works great.

I'd show a picture, but can't find it at the moment.

Like you, I wished I had the original set up as well. And, we could get all the parts and switch them out if we really wanted to. But over time, I have found I have been able to live with the seats down to create that "flat area" minus the console, and still have access to the built in storage compartments. And, I removed the headrests. I could not live with them. Up, they hinder your rear viewing, down, they are just in the way. This also helped me live with the current back area set up. It just feels roomier without those ulgy head reads back there, and viewing out the back window is normal now.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but, I have a few questions about doing some stuff mentioned here as I already hate my rear seat setup, after only 4 days of ownership! (bought my Taco saturday) SO...

Those who tore the rear seats out altogether and replaced with plywood, any pics?

^Those that did this, were you able to bolt it down and still retain access to your storage bins? Or do you have to remove it to access them?

^Has anybody done a custom back piece to eliminate the seat backs altogether? (talking a piece on the back of the cab)

Those with earlier setup swapped in, is it a direct bolt in, or does it require some drilling or other mods?

^Does the Huskyliner cargo liner fit and work well? (for rear seat folded)

^Does a Huskyliner floormat cover over the carpet holes from removing the rear console?

Any help is greatly appreciated! I definitely want to do something better than the stock setup! One trip to the grocery store and I already hate it, LOL!

    THANKS!!! :D
