    same shit as everyone else
Don't do it. Why you might ask? Well its not a smooth surface, it will collect dirt and grime. When it rains all that collected grime will then flow down to the rest of your vehicle. This will cause it to be dirty more often and can also lead to corrosion. The only way to clean it will be with a pressure washer. It will look cool but in my opinion it will not work out so well.

I believe the later model trail team fj's came with the hood decal. Check out this guys site. I like the black out. Looks cool and reduces sun glare on the trail. I will probably get one soon..

Wrap it. You could do a cool Union Jack flag like on the Mini Coop...er. Ummmm.....So sorry, forgot where I was for a moment.

Totally wrap the roof in your color of choice then add your little touches like a fake sun roof, lights, advertise you favorite adult entertainment establishment. Or, Or, Orrrrrrrrrrrr you could do like those pesky Canadians do with their F-18 fighters and some of the USAFs A-10s and make a bogus camo wrap where it shows the underbelly of your FJ so when you look down, you think it's upside down. So many possibilities.

AIR_CF-18_Reverse_Cockpit_lg.jpg <----looking down you'd think it was up, but you'd be DEAD wrong.

On my ToDoList, There is a helpful YouTube vid on how to do it. Also for an info you, to pop the washer nozzles off when doing this, a deep 17mm socket does the trick. Pull the hoses off the junction "T", thread the hose through the socket and push the socket up from the underside of the hood. The clips will collapse within the inside walls of the socket and Pop-a-Reno, they are off. When you go to reinsert the nozzles, run the hoses up through the holes from under the hood, connect them to the nozzles before pushing the nozzles back into their seats. I hear this is pretty close to impossible to do once the nozzles are in place.
