2.7L 4x4 City MPG Rating

I see lots of threads about 2.7L MPG and it seems most are getting considerably better than the window sticker ratings. When I buy (holding out to see what comes of the 2012s) I will be getting a 2.7L/5spd Access Cab 4x4. This combo is rated in 2011 at 17 city / 22 hwy.

So... is there anybody out there that is actually *only* getting 17 in town? Seems almost everyone that posts here gets over 20 in town.

I'm getting right around 17 right now. I drive really short distances in the city, with lots of stop and goes and waiting at lights. Then again I live in downtown Seattle and commute to the other side of downtown for work and don't always ride my bike or take the bus...

 

A lot of us that are getting 26+ MPG'S have the 2.7L 4x2 , 4x4 will decrease your MPG's.

 

I am getting a little over 22mpg combined city/hwy with the same combo you are considering.
Keep in mind that stop and go is terrible on anything but a hybrid. We just don't want to go there.

 

I'm getting 25 mpg with my '09 4x4 2.7 liter.

 

Sometimes I wish I had the 22Re from my '95 in my '03.

 

16.5 here, averaged across everything city, hwy, off road...

Most who post up like getting good mpgs and drive to maximize it.

 

I should note that I'm lifted with oversize fires. (But my mpg numbers are corrected for their increased circumference.)

 

A solid 23 combined in the spring summer. In winter its around 18.

 

All Terrain/off road tires are going to decrease gas mileage as well. I should figure mine out some time.

 

i get bored in the stop and go traffic so i pretend im a race car diver... probably doesnt help hahahahha. id say around 18-19 with the 265/70's

Meh....whatever. That's what I'm getting.

 

My 5 lug is rated at 21/26. Even in the dead of winter with short trips (no longer than 8 miles one way) and zero highway miles, I still have never had a single tank below 24 MPG. It's very easy to beat the EPA ratings.

 

My 4X4 Access cab gets 19-22 in the city, depending on how I drive. Average is prolly around 21. Highway isn't that much better tho.. might get 25 downhill with a tail wind.

 

I hear you guapo. Not much better mileage on the highway. My '03 is rated 18/21. I think it'd be nice if the truck had a 6 speed in it. I'm tachin' about 2500 at 65mph.

 

I've got a 2007 Access Cab 4x4 with 265/75's. Around the city I usually get around 19-20. Highway is 22-23. That's with me driving it pretty 'mpg-conscious'.

My last tank was 20.5 with a 50/50 mix of highway/city.

Best MPG I've seen was 100% highway with a tailwind driving across TN; got like 26.8. That was with my 245/70's though.

I have a 98 Tacoma x-cab, 2.7L, 5spd, 4x4 and I am only getting 17mpg +/- - you'll probably have better results with newer generation. I drive a mix of about 60/40 City/highway. Truck is all stock, I keep good maint on it (filters/oil/airfilters etc) but could really use some suggestions on improving the mileage.

Any of you-all have some good sugestions for improving mpg on these older pick-ups?

Driving habits are the biggest factor..... I get 17/18 when i drive like i want to city and hwy 2.7l 5spd.... I get 20 or better if i drive like im running out of gas !!!!

 

22.5mpg (US) on the 1800-ish miles I've put on this month. All two lane roads, max 60mph, and quite a bit of slow speed stuff in the woods (1st-2nd gear). Load range E tires. 2.7l AC 5 speed.

A big part of getting good fuel mileage has to do with the part that connects the seat to the steering wheel...
