truck bed not draining?

After every rain my truck bed will have a few inches of water laying in it shouldn't there be drain holes somewhere? If so does anyone have a picture of it?

I have no bed liner or anything.

 

The second gens have three pilot holes in the bed on the cab side. They get plugged pretty easily with sticks and stuff. Don't know about first gens.

OP i don't THINK 1st gens have drains. do you park are truck at an angle? like facing down a hill? even a very sight hill. i know are '00 tundra dose the same but it has the oem bed liner in it.

 

There is a third. Drill a hole.

 

Mine is always parked slightly uphill so i've never noticed it but the other night I came out to probably 4 inches of water in the bed up at the front when i was parked somewhere else downhill. I guess they have no provisions for draining... but is that really that big of a deal? I mean it was gone in 2 seconds as soon as I started driving.

 

if you end up drilling a hole make sure you paint back over it

 

My truck sits for weeks at a time just hate to see the water siting there to cause rust. The only place i have to park is flat as well. Maybe i should just drill a hole for it to drain but i thought it used to drain on it's own

I see... Well how about you grab some rocks or boards or something and park the front tires on those when it's sitting for awhile. Instant hill-in-a-can!

 

I have 2 stock drains located at the bottom of the front bed panel (vertical wall against the cab) a few inches from the corners of the bed, noticed them when I removed the oem plastic bed liner to clean under it. They are very small, small enough to get clogged by the sand I was spraying out of the bed.

my 01 dcab has two drain holes in the bed floor towards the cabin... they have rubber plugs in them that can be pulled out to drain the bed, then popped back in place...

the holes look about 3/4" to 1" in diameter... i need to measure...

i will try to take a pic of them tomorrow and post...

so here is the bed drain in the floor of the bed towards the cab...

i put a nickel next to it for size reference...

Weesa, Steve and Matt nailed it IMO - I've never seen drain holes like Mike has in any 1st gen taco

 

I have those same drain holes with rubber plugs in the bed of my 04 DC Tacoma too. I pull out the plugs every time I wash my truck.

 

You could make the same thing with a hole saw and some body plugs.

 

Appears those holes are to access components underneath?
