U.S. Ford Ranger Production to End December 22

Looks like the mini truck is officially dead.

It's time to end that truck... Seems Ford was neglecting it over the last few years.

But then there's this line...

"However, an all-new Ford Ranger for global markets outside North America goes on sale later this year."

In this day and age of $4 gas, I find it crazy that all these companies would be eliminating the small truck. I want Toyota to go back the way of the 1st gen .. and drop 750lbs of weight while they're at it.

 

I loved the ranger, wished they had updated it, Ford made a mistake there, not sure where I read it (I think it was Four Wheeler or Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road) but GM is ending production of the Canyon and Colorado, not that I was a big fan, I just think it creates less competition for the Tacoma, potentially causing it to go to crap.

Just my thought, there is potential for it to happen.

 

f150 is only 13% bigger than the ranger. So i guess instead of a complete make over they threw a v6 in the 150 to replace the ranger. Every time they do a complete makeover ford goes bigger anyway. Just like the new tacomas are pretty much the same size as the old tundras.

 

I like the size of the ranger. Very compact. I like how big the tacoma is, but sometimes I wish the gen2 was the size of the 1st gen.

Also, those rangers get pretty shitty mileage considering their size.

 

I swear I didn't know they even made them anymore.I can't tell you the last time I saw one on the road.

 

I think this may increase the value of our vehicles.

 

Same thing i was thinking. I was looking to see how much I could sell my taco for if I needed to and I can still sell it for what I paid for 1 year ago.

 

Weird, I see them everywhere down here, if I had to guess I see 10-20 of them I see whenever I try to go somewhere.

 

it's a shame they haven't updated it over the years, and a shame the whole segment has not had more competition.
it's a lot easier to park, maneuver, take less space, look less bloated than full size trucks.
