That's one of my favorite trails. I've yet to hike to the very end but I've been to where your talking about. I think its called Eagles Point Buttress. A lot of really cool rock formations and boulders to see on that trail. Have you heard of the book "Hinterlands:unofficial hiking in the RRG" http://www.lostbranch.com/lost_branch_productions.htm
The book rates that trail like a 8 or 9 (outta 10) for difficulty.

It's about all the "unmarked, unofficial" trails in the RRG, really good book with lots of details, elevation maps, graphs, directions. Its laid out really well. I ordered one last summer, I definitely recommend it if you love the RRG.

Here's another site with the book

haha yeah every time I go there that is where I have to stay. I love that trail. Especially in the summer if you stay down by the river, just jump in and go for a swim. Then you have the cave and rock house right outside of the cave and that Eagle's Point Buttress. That climb is awesome. Me and the girl I went with free climbed about 50 ft of it to the top... talk about a butt puckering, yet awesome climb. I got to about where the river starts to go left through an S curve but thats about as far as I have gone. It has some pretty steep hills and lots of boulder areas that are cool.

I need to buy that book. I love being on the unestablished trails because of how few people there are that come through there and it makes for less damage and trash all over the place.

double servings are usually just enough (sometimes a little more than enough) for one person though

Yeah, I've had them before, a double serving is just about right for one person who hiked 15 miles that day with 4500 ft of elevation gain. I just wanted to know if the Costco pack was two serving entrees, that's the only kind I want to buy.

So I went car camping for the first time in awhile. Got to test some new gear! Here are some pic's I took.

Love the new tarp I bought from a member here. Its the Kelty Canyon Tarp. Pretty big, but still light weight and durable. I've taken it kayaking a few times for shade, very versatile.

In the background is a river, thats running a bit higher than normal due to all the rains we've been having. Pretty relaxing to camp by it, sounds like a waterfall :)

probably will at some point this summer. I have a pretty crazy summer. Between vacations, backpacking trips, and weddings.... I may squeeze a kayak trip in somewhere.
