Haha I was suppose to camp out of my kayak the other day but got rained out. Maybe next week though! I only have a 10.5ft Dagger Blackwater. It helps me keep my gear to the bare minimum and I have to be creative with my limited storage space. I need to buy some drybags though. Garbage bags just don't cut it anymore lol

    What about you?

That sounds like so much fun! Just camp along the river the whole time? Two-person kayak? Most I've done is some whitewater rafting camping trips w/ a tour group, but me no likey tour groups.

I have an 11'1" (yes... 11.1... they had to add that extra inch in there) Perception Rhythm.

Nice! smokies should be nice right now!
I camp at random areas along the river.... and hope to God it doesn't flood at night. Tour groups are never fun. More often than not, theres at least 2-3 people that have never been camping in their life, much less been on the water in a boat. I steer WAY clear of those groups.

I've been wanting to get a kayak trip together...Suwanee river would be fun.

I have a 13' Ocean Kayak Prowler that I fish out of. It's old but it works great and has plenty of stability for fishing.

exactly. Just makes for a miserable time for the ones like us that know wth we are doing. I hate camping with people that do nothing but bitch. I have told a few people I was with to either quit their bitching or go back to the car and stay there till we are done.

Yeah, would be a strange feeling to wake up floating down the river. heheh It's surprisingly not much fun being with folks who have never camped. "WHAT"S THAT NOISE?!" "It's a grasshopper - go to sleep." "Where are the bathrooms?"

I'd like to think I'm in that last group, but with a little more brains, and THAT is why I don't like groups - moving at the pace of your slowest member.

And with that said, I want to join a rafting tour down the CO River through the Grand Canyon. ME=sometimes hypocritical :D

x2 I hate being held up by the slow member. I am the "lets take the more dangerous route... but be safe at the same time" Lets you know your still alive!
 I especially love taking newbies backpacking and they are constantly getting up and running around trying to do stuff to keep them occupied. The best part of camping is squatting your ass down in a chair next to the camp fire and just letting your mind wander off. Meanwhile, your partner is running around like a crack head. damn.... just sit and chill the F out!

Although, I sometimes whittle when sitting around. My big knife came with a smaller one that's perfect for it. Now, I just need to get good at it.

Tourists in general scare me... I was in Glacier National Park last summer and over heard a conversation between a couple went something like...
guy: look! honey, its an elk! ohh...
lady: no! thats a prong horn (antelope)!

me: grabbing tripod, walking quickly away and muttering 'its a :censored: bighorn sheep...now go back to your car and drive home before you hurt yourself or someone else!'

Awwww  ...Hey! Why the ?

What's wrong with needing bathrooms? Maybe its just different for girls...

And noises don't bother me (obviously) but the lack of noises does. Last year I was out and it was dead silent one night - there was no water around, and for whatever reason there were no birds, no crickets, no squirrels, nothing! It was too eerie....

Unless its a hungry animal

Once I've got everything set up and a good stash of firewood I can relax and just poke at the campfire with a stick for hours...very mesmerizing....
