Why doesn't my truck have a dipstick to check the auto trans fluid? My owners manual has no refrence to it, and says nothing about changing the fluid in the regular maint. schedule section either....just wondering. Thanks

It depends on what you do with your truck. If you tow a lot then Toyota suggest changing it at 60k. If not then you are good till 100k. As stated above it is a sealed transmission w/ no dipstick. If you do decide to get it changed, let Toyota do it. I've read a few threads where other places have changed it and it ended up just causing people problems.

Thanks for the input, I'll probably do it myself, I will change the engine oil myself, I'm anal about changing engine oil at 3000 miles, I dont think I can wait till 5000 miles so the dealership will do it. I ASSume the auto trans will be like a manual trans where you have a check plug in the side of the trans to fill and check the level???????????? Does anyone know, when the dealership changes the trans oil do they flush out all the old fluid or do they just drain and refill?
