    i dont have a spare but i dont think i would mount it under the bed. it would just wheeling and having a rock puncture it or it getting ripped off. Plus all that stuff would start weighing a lot.

    ^^ yeah, I buy full-body wipes when I'm not near water, bio-degradable soap suds no matter what water source, and bought one of those Sun Showers on sale which is actually nice but rarely used. If I had a family I'd use one of those under-truck ones...

    So, ah, back to the kayaking talk quickly... can anyone recommend a high-quality dry bag? A duffel? Maybe something large I can sling over my back? I mean something that can withstand hurricanes and such? :D

    waterless shampoo is the best invention ever haha. and for dry bags i like sea to summit. there very tough bags and they will keep your things dry. i think gregory makes thema s well but not 100% on that

    But if there were big animals out there then you should hear branches breaking or something.

    I love getting away from 'city' noises - I can sleep more soundly out in the middle of nowhere on the ground than I can in a hotel in a big, cushy bed. :notsure:
    I think the best night of sleep I had in a while was last weekend when it rained all night! So soothing...

    I have an Outdoor Research dry/compression bag that is great! It sat out in the rain for close to 6 hours, non stop rain last weekend and not a single drop of water inside it. The bag is one of the first items I bought when I got in to backpacking about 5ish years ago. It also goes on the outside of my pack if I am carrying my mummy bag in it so it has gotten abused quite a bit from sticks, rocks, etc. I did a test on it once and completely submerged it for about 10 mins under water and didn't leak one bit.

    I have two 16.6 boats. They are current designs squalls that are made for tripping. lots of dry storage space front and back and have rudder systems that help with big waves and high winds.

    how much of the AT have you done? I started at the terminus in GA and did about 60 miles and that was about it.
