98 tacoma prerunner wheels?

has anyone found Black wheels that can fit a 98 tacoma pre runner? cuz i ran into a problem where none fit my truck so im considering painting my current ones black.

 

ive been tryin for a couple weeks now and i originally ordered some cragar black wheels and they didnt fit in the front due to the brakes which i keep reading about and apparently its just the 98 it wont fit on. so im searching for some that dont have spokes and are black.

 

the brakes hit the inside of the wheel. where the design holes on the cragars were. not thr part the tire sits on.

 

thats what ima do for now until i find some type that fit. ive seen some and they look pretty good

 

i was just thinking bout painting my current ones black ha until i find some that fit because im going for the white truck with black wheels, lights ect.

 

from what i heard it was just the 98... i dont know if anyone else has ran into this problem but im sure other 98 models have.... cuz ive seen my wheels on this site that have been painted black so ive seen it and i personally think they look good and will give me the look im going for while i find some that for sure fit. also would be cool to drop a toyota helix diesel into a 98 prerunner ha.

 

i bet you ordered Crager Soft 8 wheels, right?

of all the wheels out there that exist, you ordered the one wheel that doesn't fit the tacoma... hahah

if you google Soft 8 wheels on tacomas, you should be able to find the two ways to make them fit on a first gen...

D window black steels, D window black steel streetlocks, Wheeler's black steels, and various other black alloys will fit...

ive found out that no steel wheels fit cuz the brake calipers too big.

 

uh, we been modding tacomas for over ten years... who told you that no steel wheels fit a 98?

let me go pull up some pics for ya...

 

these should be some 96 to 99 tacomas... all with black steel wheels...

the first 3 might be 15 inch wheels and the last one in 16s...

or go with some black alloys... they are lighter and look great...

 

the idiots over at discount tire who claims he goes off roading all the time. if hes feeding me the wrong info please fill me in with the correct.

 

i have found that a lot of retail shops, once they find out a certain type of wheel doesn't fit a certain generation of tacoma, will lump all tacomas within that finding...

for example, when the 2nd gen tacos came out in 2005, 4 wheel parts started refusing to sell 15" wheels to any tacoma owner because they found out that 15s were too small to clear the calipers on the new tacomas...

at some shops to this day, they will even refuse to accept returns on 16" wheels purchased for a tacoma, even if the tacoma is a first gen, which came stock with 16s... all because they have been told that tacomas now come with 17s...

personally, i vote you look into some Eagle Alloy Series 100... you should be able to find them online for about $120 each...

although, if you go to Wheelers, they have a really great looking 8 hole black alloy that they guarantee to fit a first gen tacoma... $128 each for 16s, $115 each for 15s... PM Wheelers here on TW and see if they have a TW member discount...

yah, it's always hit and miss...

i used to know a guy at Americas Tire who actually wheeled a tacoma, so he knew his stuff... after he left, i got frustrated with the guys over there... hahah

 

one other question thats not about wheels but where can i find these cab lights im seeing on some tacomas?

Ya i ended up with a jeep guy who said oh my jeep doesnt have this problem ect ge had no clue bout tacomas ha

 

ya i saw some truck on here with cab lights, the running lights most diesels have on their roof, mostly 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks have em.
