New intake idea?

So this is kind of an off the wall idea and i searched and haven't found anything similar... I'm thinking it may be possible to make a sort of "ram air" type intake for our trucks. I know the intake is routed to pull air from the passenger side front fender, so what if you cut a hole in the fender near the airbox and put some sort of vent there? kind of like where a snorkels hole would go into the fender but without the snorkel. any thoughts?

 

I have been looking at something similar but not a hole in the fender. I have a variation of the deckplate mod on my truck using some plastic pvc pipe. I plan on moving one of the horns and cutting a hole thru the rad cradle there then using some flexible tubing and some more pvc tubing to end up with an intake at the front behind the grill. Hopefully that will provide a a bit more cool air into the intake.

 

Yea thats kinda the same idea i was having... URD makes a intake that does that exact thing for the 2nd gens. it'd be sweet to have one for our trucks.

 

Colder air temperature = lower air pressure

Warmer air temperature = higher air pressure

If ram air works so good, I wonder why they don't have Velocity gauges on superchargers and turbochargers instead of Boost gauges.

 

I think you got that backwards...unless you are talking about expansion and compression...Sorry being a weather man sucks.

 

Yes, that is what I am talking about. Density and pressure are different characteristics

 

I still like the Twin Electric Leaf Blower "Supercharger" mod, better

It might offer some benefit. Everyone knows the colder the air, the better. With the deck plate mod, my intake temp is usually ~10-15F hotter than the outside temp (more when in traffic, and much less when on the high way). It can help get cooler air into your intake.
