at my volunteer fire station we just ordered a new truck. everything's ready, pumps, hoses, lights, everything. BUT the pigment they use in the "fire truck red" paint isn't available because of the tsunami's in japan, cause thats where a large quantity of a certain "paint pigment" is made.

hey you may be right, just throwing my contribution to the matter out there. . . . and by the way our truck is a Ford truck, so in my mind, a japanese car manufacturer would be even more likely to have this issue. . .

    .
It's a lifestyle thing to me, when I have to find or meet someone I tell them to look for the big black Tacoma, ever since the 2nd gens came out there was never any other color even considered, it took me months to find this truck used with 25k miles. I like metal and I'm old school, the hair, the jeans the tattoos, the truck, it's not just a Tacoma. It's a Black Tacoma

your dealer is right on this one, there's a worldwide shortage of and delay of some pigments used in some colors, including black among others, all that use those pigments in their reciepie for the color offered. the factory that makes these base pigments was affected by the tsunami in Japan.

different car manufacturers offer different colors, a chevy black could be different than a toyota black if they use different pigment suppliers. i can tell you for sure that Jeep/Chrysler as well as German car manufacturers use the same Japanese pigments and they just like Toyota are in delay on certain colors due to the tsunami....

I read at one time the People's State of Kalifornia was considering outlawing black vehicles!!! I would say "Can you believe it" But when it comes to that State.....uh .....yeah.

Black is not a color anyway.....its a career for the analites who spend precious life time washing and waxing constantly and somewhere in that nearly religious practice actually use a toothbrush.

Its a shame really because the three most purchased vehicle colors are black white and silver.
