    Exactly! Since it is purple, it is lighter on the color scale than the black valve used by Toyota, thus requires less color dye, making it lighter. Hence "High Performance!"

    Just means its shorter, causing less wind resistance inside the engine bay. Better airflow FTW

    Well done on your presentation & have wondered the differences of the filters myself. Have been using Amsoil 5w30 w/ the Toyota filter since the 10K mile mark & I would say after your presentation that has been a good choice after all. Have been a Wix fan for the ATV's & other vehicles so if I can not get the Toy' oil filter I would use either the Wix or Amsoil filter I guess. Again, good job & thanks.

    I Haven't Read all the thread but do you have a recomendation on Which one is better?

    I use Mobil One Full Sintec Extended performance Oil that said is good for 15K miles but I change it every 10K and use de Mobil One Extended performance just because it suppose to be made for each other.

    Thanks for this info it's very helpful.

    Its all just information, so read the OP and you can decide for yourself. If you ask 10 different people, they're going to recommend 10 different filters.

    I personally use Royal Purple for the sake of using Royal Purple oil, but most would probably say the OEM filter is best.

    I was wondering if you have done the same with air filters?
    I've read about the AFE pro dry but can't help thinking if it increases airflow it must decrease filtration. Any thoughts? What do you use?

    I did test a shit load of air filters a few years ago, but didnt take pics. Didnt think about it at the time, as it was done for my knowlege, and my Familys. Anyway, I found that the difference between a "High Flow" air filter, and the OEM is negligable on a dyno. The results were within the margin of error of the dyno, and I never saw a consistant average gain of any sort with them. All single layered oiled gauze type filters (K&N, AFE, and another Generic filter) showed the highest amounts of silica levels in the oil samples. In fact, they were maxed out on the reports. An Airaid 7 layer gauze filter was only a few points from the max silica levels. I didnt try the Pro Dry filter, but the Fram, and Wix gave acceptable levels, and the OEM filter showed the least amounts of silica in the reports. Now....This was done in a very dry, dusty environment, so results would be different in a place such as Florida. Another thing to consider, given the sq.-in. of surface area of the OEM filter, (and the fact that the engine only fills one cylinder at a time, which is only about 40 Cu.-in.), the OEM filter is virtually invisible to the engine. I also tested flow rates with, and without the filter in place, and saw the same grams/sec. flow with, or without the filter. SO......that all being said, use what filter you are comfortable with. In a dusty dry environment, I would stick with the OEM filter. If you want a reuseable filter, then choose whatever dry filter you like. I wouldnt use an oiled gauze filter, as it can cause the MAF to get dirty over time.

    Went to an O'Rileys Auto Parts store yesterday. They had a display of cut open oil filters.........was really impressed with the WIX.......seemed like more filter meduim and tighter pleats.

    The Wix filter for our trucks still has about half the filtering media than the OEM filter from Toyota.
