No, I never did see that one!

If you really want to get a good draft, draft that close behind a tour type bus (the kind that sit really close to the ground). Drafting behind a semi is all and good until he throws a rock up and it nails you.

You have to weigh mileage with cracked windshields I guess. :)

I have two more tanks to go (end of next week?) before I write up my half of the final report. So far things are looking pretty good, but I need to get some good solid highway miles on my truck. My last tank was mostly in-town driving in heavy traffic and I got 22 MPG with the VPE installed and the A/C on. That was impressive! :D

Don't worry - there will be a final report on another thread at the conclusion of this test.

I averaged 21.4 mpg with my V6 over the last two fill-ups and that is with the auto choke engaging on startup due to our current freezing mornings.

I believe the key factor in improving mpg is speed control. About half my miles are on the freeway where I keep the Taco at 70 mph/2K in OD. I am also careful to control acceleration in any gear to 2K or less. That puts me right with the local 18-wheelers which are now averaging 70 on our freeways due to a recent statewide increase in truck speed limits.

I admit sometimes feeling like the Lone Ranger as the average 80-90 mph traffic blows me off the road  but I just stick with the big trucks when I can and save my gas. So far, I am not getting the finger from the SUV big shots so I must not be impeding traffic too badly.

If they give you the finger, just return the gesture when you pass them while they're filling up at the gas station.

HOLY CRAP!!! I don't know where I lost it, when he almost tipped it around the turn or when he picked it up and took it into work with him!

I must concur I get about 16-17 at most! What can I say I waste the gas and go through tires a little too often, it's just more fun that way.

Run higher tire pressures. Sucks for handling but will give better gas millage.

The tire pressure helps LOTS... Fill the tires to 32PSI(Factory Dunlops) to 32PSI at the coldest part of the day. You will get 1/2 to 1 1/2 mpg more..Rich _MG_8384_edited-2Large-2_61375c8363bbcc375092ce37720bbafbdd9d6632.jpg

I just got back from saluda and got 19 mpg when i filled up. I was following someone with a fuzz detector so i was doing around 85 or 90 on the way down (i was not happy cause i wanted to see if i could get 21mpg) But i got 19mpg with mostly city and fast highway

I stumbled on this thread (and these forums) while looking for info on the 4.0 SC.

But anyways, I have a chemical engineering degree (not my job at all).

There has been no scientific proof offered on this product anywhere. Only claims made by the manufacturer, who is not at all required to tell the truth to anyone.

Fact is, this product won't make any difference.
    1) Gasoline has a set amount of energy. This isn't changing that.

2)Everything that claims better mileage by "more complete burn" is snake oil. For a more complete burn to actually get you more gas mileage, the amount of unburned gas you had in the first place would never let the vehicle pass emissions.

3)The vapor pressure of gasoline is way below the pressure that our injectors are using, and the pressure of the fuel pump. Which means that changing the vapor pressure does nothing. The gas is liquid when it hits the injectors. Once it gets into the combustion chamber, the heat will vaporize it.

Even if this product does change the vapor pressure, so what?

Now to the manufacturer, if you actually show some truly scientific evidence, or link to some truly independent tests (you telling me that NASA performed their own internal tests and now uses it is a marketing ploy, I haven't seen NASA say anything) then we'll see.

What a first post... If you read the thread you would know that there IS an independant test going on by a member. 007Tacoma is taking a very scientific approach in hopes of sharing some data with the rest of us.
Statements that start off with "fact is...", in my experience, are quite the opposite. Have you done the studies, collected the data, compiled it into meaningful information? If so, please share. I am very interested to see what data, no speculation, will show us, one way or the other.

I re-wrote that last part, after I wrote it, and read it, I realized it wasn't at all what I was trying to say.

And when I say scientific, I mean I want to see what chemical interactions he is claiming. As far as driving tests, yes those are helpful, but there are way to many variables in any road test. You will never drive the same for each tank, and your results will always be different.

As far as me doing any tests, or having data, I don't need to, I can already see there is no way this can work. Its simple chemistry. The conditions inside a combustion chamber pretty much make the vapor pressure irrelevant.

Im just trying to give you guys a scientific point of view, Im trying to save you money.

Whether you believe me or not, its up to you. Never take what anybody says to be the truth just because it sounds right. Thats how marketing works, if I make it sound logical enough, you'll believe me whether or not my claims are true.

Take Monster Cable for example. Their entire company is built around bogus claims. But their marketing is so effective that everyone firmly believes that $100 cables will really make a difference in what they see/hear.

That's one thing you'll never find me doing. I research almost everything from multiple resources before making a decision on purchasing and afterward I evaluate my research and results to compare expectations to results.

On the cable comment, not quite true. Monster Cable is built around EXAGGERATED claims, not completely bogus. The quality of a cable will have profound effects on the end product to an afficianado. This to is physics and one of the 1st things I learned about sound, waves are effected by the medium through which they are transferred.
True, most people will not notice the difference between a $20 cable and a $100 cable, but you'll notice the difference between a $2 cable and a $20 cable very clearly. It's all a matter of how precise you want to be and how much you are able to spend.

I'm fairly doubtful that this product will show large benefits, but if it is able to show any I'd be interested in trying it out and starting to compile a larger database of results from which you can conduct a true analysis. There may be other principals at work than just the vapor pressure.
