Just wanted to share my story for anyone looking to get this done.

I bought my truck at a dealership about 80 miles north of me, almost to the Canadian border. They were the only one that had a 4X Tacoma with the options, and price, I wanted. Hard to find around here.

I work for a lumber company and on occasion haul some material in my truck. I immediately noticed an issue when it was lightly loaded. Looking here I saw the TSB for my truck to go from the 3 leaf pack to the 4 leaf pack. No shocks or bump stops and mine is a 2009 SR5.

I emailed the dealership I bought it from and got this response:

"Hello! Ok, finaly got to this at a time when my service department was open.
The grille is only ordered as an enitre assembly, this in the super white is $290.65 for the parts.
I checked with my service manager and he said they do not add a 4th leaf in the back. There were some models that needed one of them replaced...he reccommends the brand 'add a leaf' if you want to carry a larger load.
    Hope this helps!"

So, either she's lying or the service manager is an idiot .. or both. It took them a week to get back from me and in the meantime I went to my local Toyota dealership and told them the same thing. Within a half an hour my truck had been inspected and they told me I could schedule an appointment to get the 4 leaf pack installed in the back. Which is fully covered under warranty.

Also, that grille price is a "special deal" I get on accessories through the dealership I bought the truck from LOL. The dealer doing my work quoted me 225, super white with all parts. (I've seen a link here for 175 I think)

The point. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion. Even if you didn't buy your truck from them they may treat you a lot better.

Ok, let's make this official :D

Dealerships we've had good experiences with in WA St in regards to TSB's.

    Michael's Toyota, Bellevue, WA

Good to know the other dealership took care of you.

I had a similar situation. Bought my truck at Burien Toyota. Told them about the truck sagging when loaded and wanted the TSB done. They denied it. So I went to Michael's Toyota in Bellevue. They did it without any questions and now that is the only dealership that I go to.

Aye, I bought from Wilson Toyota in Bellingham and Rodland in Everett took care of me. Funny thing is I came really close to buying new at Rodlands but then a low mile used 2009 popped up at a ridiculous price, ended up saving close to 9k.

Have you gotten the transmission shifting TSB done? Worthwhile to get that done too.

Maybe yours was Canadian bound but they denied it entry, probably had some factory workers taped to the bottom? Damn Canucks... :D

X2 with Micheals Toyota in Bellevue, they've always been helpful when it came to TSB's.

Magic Toyota in Lynnwood did my springs with no questioned asked. I took it in a told them about the problem I had with adding some weight while driving in the snow. They looked up the TSB, ordered the parts, did the install and even washed my truck. I've had nothing but good service from them.

I bought mine from Wilson's. Never approached them about the rear leaf TSB, but I did bring it in for the shifting TSB. They said nothing wrong at first, but then I asked to take a service guy on a spin with me, they agreed. Of course the truck didn't act up when shifting - but I came prepared with the TSB printed out anyways :D Gave it to the guy, he looked it up, confirmed it was good, and 20 minutes later I was out the door with a proper shifting truck! They have some goofy sales people at Wilson though....

She didn't lie to you. Toyota doesn't add a leaf. It''s a whole new leaf pack. It's important to know exactly what you need to accomplish becausemost likely you as a customer is going to know more about your model truck than a service advisor. Also, email is not the best way to get an issue resolved.

Meh the dealer is over 75 miles away, thereabouts. If you can't use email to communicate, you're not my dealer. I refuse to play phone tag with a dealership. They all send you to their voicemail so they can call you back at their leisure.

I understand the "AAL" issue but I was clear that I wanted the TSB for the 4 leaf rear end because of the harsh ride etc.

It's no biggie, got it done at another closer Toyota dealer.
