so my wife found my original window sticker today while unpacking. Turns out that I have an LSD and didnt fully know it. From time to time I feel a jolt like my rear was unloading, but not its confirmed. Then i was thinking that when I change out my bumper and put my winch on I want the controls inside the cab like they were in the 86. That being said the 2 of 3 blank buttons next to my mirror controls, are wired. Can I unplug these and be ok? or do I need to just stuff the blanks up in the dash out of the way when I do my switches?

Had my own little mod day today...DSully72 seemed like he was a little lonely around 27MHz so I had to drop in a Cobra 19 Ultra-III...

Fab'd my own antenna mount to use the bed rails and work around the Extang Solid Fold Tonnau cover...

Figured out that bending 1/8 steel without a bench vice isn't fun...

 

Yeah, pulled the rubber bottom piece out, then dremmel'd the bottom of the tray and trimmed the rubber piece down...was able to trim the CB Bracket and screw it into the side wall of the coin tray for a nice solid mount...

Antenna is a 4' Wilson tunable tip...Might put a speaker in for a PA at some point but for now just CB'in...I did run power straight off the battery after reading it cut down on electrical interferance...it seemed to be clean after comms checks with DSully72...

 

I saw the CB Mounting idea from another TW member...can't remember who or I'd give him props...one down side...I've already whacked a finger a coupla times pulling the shifter out of park...Have to re-learn a new shifter grip ;-)

 

I had to fab my own rail mounts...needed something that would bend back towards the cab and then up so I wouldn't have to cut into my Extang solid-fold cover....used 3" wide 1/8 steel to build bracket and cut a 1"x3" strip to slide into the rail....two bolts 1/2" from each side locked it down pretty good...then I still boned how high the antenna mount had to be above the tonnau cover and had to go back to the RShack to by an L-connector for the antenna cable to clear it....it all worked out in the end...
