So my step son has been driving this, a 1995 4x4 Gen I. Mine is in the background.

We put time and money into it to making the gen 1 road worthy. Good first car and safe on the road at 236k miles. Frame and fluids are good. Needs door and body work, not much. It whistle in the frame at highway speeds on the passenger door.

    He bought today
    a 2000 Chevy blazer with 100k miles.
    No picture is necessary.....

We all have a visual of this pile of crap

He wants to sell the taco to get his money back for $1500K and I have half a mind to buy it back from him. I've got a 15 year old who will be driving soon. We can fix it together like I did with the new chevy owner...

    Chevy:facepalm:.......the shame.

 buying a chevy POS is almost unforgivable.

I know!!!! I think I will. Good safe learners vehicle, manual as well. I have taught all my kids to drive stick. I've never worried about them when they were in a Tacoma during the winter and winter is long in my part of this world.

The 15 year old will be the youngest and last. I can keep it around and teach grandkids if Im lucky.

August is nice. No humidity like TN. Winters are long and shitty here. We flee south when we can.

I made my mind up. I'll buy the Tacoma after checking with his mom and the stepson who is 15 yrs old.

yeah it's humid as hell right now. but it did rain like 30 min ago. lol i do love it down here we get nice hot weather in summer and some snow not much. most me really see in the Vally in 6" to 8" at the most. but i can drive 40 45 min and be in the smokeys and be snowboarding at an decent slope. but what most people from the north don't know is we dont have the stuff to clear roads in the winter and it will be 35 in the day and 15 at night so the roads get covered in ice. not snow. lol

Actually we do know you don't have plows to clear the road in sufficient numbers to stay ahead of a good snowstorm. We get them in such rapid succession. Having a good 4x4 like a gen 1 tacoma is invaluable for a new driver as long as we inspect and maintain it.

Original clutch, never had an issue with it other than some squeeking that drove me nuts till I fixed it.

I just drove my stepson's blazer...what a piece of shit. It felt like driving drunk. Very loose on the highway.

Buy back the Tacoma from him, wait til his Trailblazer craps the bed and sell it back to him. Shouldn't really take that long, first snow maybe?

I miss my 86 chevy c20. Wish it was a k20. I could work on everything on that truck on my own. I don't miss the gas bill though. If I needed a bigger truck, I'd pick up another 80's Chevy, but keep my Tacoma.
Chevy's new stuff? The Colorado is crap. I don't want to know about the rest.
