    Thanks :)

It won't be done for at least a month, but once it is, it'll be a pretty big sense of accomplishment!

    Lucky :pout: Enjoy your trip!

 Lesson learned: NEVER stop for strangers!

I don't stop, especially when I'm alone, unless I see an immediate need for help...wreckage, stuck, etc. I did stop for some bikers (of the pedal variety, not the other kind) who were trying to fix a bike on a curvy road with no shoulder...loaded them and the bikes in the bed of the truck and took them to the next pullout a couple of miles down the road. That was the only time a stranger has been in my truck.

Odd, I helped this guy who looked like he was straight out of the hood and at least 10 years older than me (call me a dumb high schooler) who was pulled over on a turnaround, he wasn't asking for help but he was outside his shiny gold and chrome caddy on his phone looking upset. I pulled up about 200 ft away, his pants were below his ass so I figured I could outrun him if I had to, he had run out of gas so I drove 10-15 minutes to a gas station to let him get some gas and a gas can and he offered to buy me gas and was as polite as could be about everything, the guy was a manager at a local subway and offered me free food but I figured it was just a good thing to do without pay and whatnot. I try not to judge, odd thing was he had no problem with my boots (Ariat Ropers not my backpacking ones) or slight southern draw. We got along great, cracked a couple of jokes, there are still some nice people out there.

Good on you! I don't ever stop unless I can tell something is visibly wrong. It sucks for the people that are out there that are REALLY in need of help because the bad ones ruin the chance for the decent people.
looks awesome! Are you going to put one of those foldout tents I see guys putting on the tops of their trucks on that trailer?

Better safe than sorry, you can help more people alive than you can bleeding out on the side of the road.

    Hello!
I had some time to kill today, and ended up reading a pretty good portion of this thread (50 pages....). What do you guys recommend for food on a multi day hike? I like the mountain house meals, but they definitely add up. I'll post some of the gear I have when I get home later.

Also, is anyone here from Arizona? I've been dying to go somewhere I can go backpacking that isn't either on fire, a million miles away, or ~10 billion *F. I'm trying to get some buddies together to go somewhere near Silverton, CO this weekend, but that's one hell of a trip. I was really bummed because I was all set to go camping near bear wallow a few weeks ago and that ENTIRE area is completely gone now.

If you want to eat fresh, do it on the first day or three--depending on what you bring. Otherwise, gotta go MH or the like.

    I'm in tucson.

Have you looked around flagstaff? At higher elevation it should be cooler and it's an easy drive.
