hello, i just bought myself a Remington 870 tactical shotgun for home defense cause in the past 2 months there have been 7 house robberies in my area, and out of those 7 a black man and mexican lady were seen fleeing 2 of the robbed houses.

anyways, in CALIFORNIA (please don't say just use #00 buck or lead slugs CAUSE I LIVE IN DAMN CALIFORNIA. i hate this state.) we cannot shoot a burglar in our own homes. unless we go through a list of things #1 we have to prove that our lives were in danger #2 the shot has to enter through the front of the burglar etc...

so i was thinking about less-lethal rounds. my questions are:

what brands are good for less-lethal ammo?

    bean bags?

    rubber pellet buck shot?

    rubber slug?

    other? (please inform me)

    what do you recommend?

    thanks guys and girls!

    COPS PLEASE REPLY! thanks!

I'd be VERY careful about using less lethal rounds...main reason being that you open yourself up to a slew of civil lawsuits

If I'm in the situation where I am possibly shooting someone...I want only 1 side of the story. If someone kicks in my door and threatens me in any way...there's no less lethal rounds being flung his way...end of discussion

I'd buy some good regular rounds, load them up, and be properly prepared. What happens when you have some rubber buckshot, shoot the guy kicking in your door and pointing a pistol at you...and then he returns fire from the ground?

Also...out of curiosity...why does the subject description matter?

You cant use slugs or 00 in CA? Laws must have changed since I was there. I live in TN, but if I had to move today it'd be to Arizona where I could four wheel, mountain bike, hunt and ride my Harley year round !

    sorry...maybe i wasnt clear

i didnt quite understand the necessity of describing the supposed "suspects" here...

does it matter what color they are? the important thing is that there are houses being burglarized and you need a way to defend yourself

we can use them. but there is no protection for people defending their own home or property.

    understood

just to reiterate...i'd do some HEAVY investigation into laws and civil liability before you go trying to defend yourself with less-lethal ammo

anything but CA would be a good start and stay out of NY that state is wacky as well you need a permit to handle guns in the store wtf over. CA has so wacky laws as well and you have to use non-lead ammo.
