Buy the sport with the long bed and enjoy the smoother ride. I opted for the TRD OR with the locking diff cause I need it on the farm, otherwise I would have gone with the sport for the matching mirrors, door handles, and rear bumper.

NO, it is not an Off Road... just has a sticker! Look at the photo of the buttons, a bunch of blanks and no RR Diff Lock button...

Here is what the Off Road button area looks like (2009+):

Also it may just be the pic... but it sure does look like a beige interior, so its not a TRD of any sort.

Ahh... right. I've got a tendency to just read the last post, and I got excited because I felt all smart ass. My bad.

Not really... you said it is an SR5 with bedside decals... Well, my Off Road TRD is ALSO an SR5 with bedside decals!

The Off Road has a rear locking differential and is not available in a long bed. I provided photos of the difference so he will know what to look for in the future... Instead of giving a hungry man a fish, it is better to teach him how to fish... then he can feed himself forever!;)

No, your truck is an OR (with decals ). SR5 comes standard on that model. An SR5 doesn't come with the OR package standard.

I believe I read here that for 2011 they dropped the SR5 designation/ package for Off Roads (and Sports?) because all Sports and all Off Roads have everything an SR5 has?

Up to 2010, all Off Roads are also SR5s, (but obviously not all SR5s are Off Roads).

My truck is an SR5 with Off Road hardware added on or built into it (as in the hydraulic brake booster, A-TRAC device, Rear Locking Differential).

A Sport is an SR5 with 'sporty' looks (as in hood scoop, color matched mirrors and bumpers, appearance items, am I right?).

Both have Bilstein shocks, but perhaps valved/ tuned differently (off road driving vs. paved road driving).

I think the trim/ feature levels are:
    a) Base
    b) SR5
    c) Sport TRD
    d) Off Road TRD

Then there are three cab sizes:
    1) 2 door
    2) Access Cab
    3) Double Cab

Then the double cab has 2 bed sizes:
    1) Standard 5 ft.
    2) Long Bed 6 ft. (not available on the Off Road TRD)

Finally, you have two drive choices:
    1) 2WD
    2) 4WD

No matter what you get, they are all great!

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
the trucks still come w/ all the SR5 perks, just w/o the SR5 badge on the tailgate. the shocks are still the same from OR to sport, the coils are the difference...and a slightly larger sway bar on the sports. neither of which matter when everyone swaps out the suspension and removes swaybars.

Okay... good to know that the shocks are the same, but the springs in front are different. The Off Road Tacoma is near perfect for most off roading, as it comes from the factory... Only the tires (BFG Rugged Trails)are a weak part... after 15,000 miles when they start getting flats from pointy rocks!
