Stick on hood scoop from Autozone.
Or you can just get out and lock them BEFORE you hit the mud. ;)

I had my 2WD up in the AZ mountains after a good snow. The firestone Destination ATs and the weight of my camper shell got me through fine. The great MPG(27 HWY) is my daily reward. If I get more serious about off road'n or deeper snow, I can back myself up with chains or a winch.

Here's my experience a year and a half ago: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/65908-i-am-prerunner.html

Still feel the same. Need 4X4? Clearly I do not. Want 4X4 next truck? Sure.

    Although I've only had it for a month, I don't regret not getting a 4x4. I drove a 97 4x4 v6 m/t for a year and used 4wd twice and it wasn't necessary.

why not? the weight of everything 4wd centered low would keep you planted longer.

That weight is marginal at best. Besides the 4x4's sit up higher than any of the 5 lugs, which means they have a higher center of gravity to begin with.

    HELL NO

Whats to regret? No snow here, I don't see any joy in rock climbing anymore especially with a truck as large as the 2nd gen Tacoma....

Any dirt roads I happen upon can be easily navigated with a 2WD. Grew up in snow country and never owned a 4WD while there. If it was that bad I stayed home. Last 4WD Taco I had was when I lived in Nevada in the 80's and there were some fun off roading trips and blizzard ski trips to Brain Head.

It's not a "hobby" for me. Just another reliable vehicle in the stable to carry small dirty crap around.
