I talked with my service person today & may have discovered why people are having trouble getting the rear spring TSB. She said that you can't just ask for the TSB. Toyota has mandated that the customer has to mention certain things to qualify. A couple of the items she told me were: You have to say you are having issues with sag or harsh ride when carrying heavy loads. Or you are having a squeeking noise in the rear.

I think the sag or harsh ride is your best option to mention, even if you aren't carrying heavy loads yet.

Also you have to do this before the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty expires. Not sure if this qualifies with an extended warranty.

She told me the parts alone were $1800. I'm having mine installed July 8th. They are even giving me a loaner car while it is being done. Thanks Toyota Mall of Georgia.

I wonder if they are installing gold plated leaf packs now? Crazy price on that

I asked her if they were dipped in gold. She said the bolts were $250, that's insane.

Some people on here have had issues with dealers refusing to do the TSB. It may have been those dealers were sticking to the rules set by Toyota & not telling them they had to ask for it a certain way to qualify.

I spoke to my dealer about it today and he said when I get a heavy load in the bed to take a look and see how it does. I remember reading somewhere on here that the newer trucks have more robust shocks. He indicated that it wouldn't be an issue for me if I wanted to get it done but he wouldn't give me new ones just for knowing about it. I didn't want to lie since I don't have any marks on my frame/bed bumpers (or whatever they are called).

I intend to test the springs this weekend so we will see what happens.

Called the dealer, told them I was experiencing a harsh ride with a heavy payload. Told them about the TSB. Brought it in, called back and said "yep, your truck definitely qualifies." They ordered the parts on Monday and I'm dropping it off tomorrow so they can work on it Friday. Getting a loaner all at the same time. Been a spectacular experience. I have nothing but great things to say about my dealer.

I went to the dealer after I carried a keg in a trash can of ice in my bed. Went in told him about it, I said it was a harsh ride and didn't feel right. The guy tried to send me to the parts section so I could buy the parts. I said that I wanted the free option and he just looked at me funny lol. I pulled up the tsb on my iPhone and showed it to him, he wrote down a few numbers went and talked to his manager. A few minutes later he came back and said that the parts had been ordered and would be here in a few days. Lol

I got mine by telling the dealer I wasn't signing the buyer's order until it was on there in paper that that would be done before I took delivery at no extra charge, and to make it happen. (I was slightly more diplomatic with my words, but that was the gist)

    They made it happen.

I sure did, just have the tsb printed off or on your phone, tell them about a harsh ride and that you want it done. I had no problems the whole thing from when I walked in to when I left with the parts ordered was only 20 minutes and install time was right at 2 hours 45 minutes.

TSBs are issued due to customer complaints. The complaint that pertains to the rear leaf TSB is "Harsh Ride" when loaded. That is what you have to say.

I guess i just wouldn't ever walk in and ask for a TSB fix. I went in and said "with just a little load in my truck it sags bad and rides really harsh, also pretty squirrly"

Then when I got the blank stare, I said "I did some research and found a TSB that I think might address the issue, here it is" then I handed them the printed PDF.
