    I've owned both the 2.7 and the 4.0. The idea that someone would try to argue that the 2.7 is better than the 4.0 is delusional to me, unless your argument is that slower, not as strong but slightly more fuel efficient (even though a pickup truck owner should realize that a pickup is not a prius, also the fuel efficiency is subjective to how one drives) is what is good. In that instance, the 2.7 outshines the 4.0 by far.

    But for our seriously folks, I'm sorry you got the 4 cylinder. I know it's tough, but one day you will be able to forgive yourself and see the light. :rofl:

    I'm fine with the MPG on my V6. It can still move as fast as I want it to move and pull whatever I need it too.

    I have no problem with an i4 truck. If I had the money for a new Taco I'd strongly consider one.

    Real trucks are meant to haul and serve the work purposes of the owner. If that means the owner needs 4 doors on his truck to get his work done, then god damn it, he better get a truck with 4 doors. If you have a boat and your truck is too small to tow it up a hill because you have a weak 2.7 4 cylinder, then sadly, your truck is not a real truck. It has failed you as a truck. It is basically a Pontiac Sunfire with a truck bed.

    But if you don't have a boat, kids or anything large or valuable you need to put behind the seat of your truck, or the desire to be able to adjust your seat forward without compromising the leg room of your passenger in such instances as your girlfriend being your designated driver, a regular cab 2.7 is real enough.

    I get it all the time from my buddies. One has a blazer with a 350, and the other has a bronco with a 351. Yet i can pretty much do everything they can, but I get better gas mileage!

    my truck hauls what i need it to haul, on a regular basis, with no struggles. I don't need four doors, as I don't have children. If you take history into account, most trucks up until the past decade or so were two door pickup trucks. the availability of four door pickups have created a greater market for a vehicle that before was used for mainly utilitarian purposes. my truck is lower to the ground, making it easier to load and unload, which for me is a key feature due to the fact that i need to access my bed quite frequently, and im not 8 feet tall.

    i don't have a boat, so why would i need to tow it up a hill? BTW pontiac sunfires are front wheel drive, my truck is Rear wheel drive. big difference.

    I am able to adjust my seat back and forth as well as recline, independently from my passenger. The passenger seat has this function as well. don't see your point there.

    I don't mind the I4 or 4x2 shit from others, espeically those who are GM or Ford people. It's kinda fun to banter in those situations.

    I do however find it annoying here. We all drive the same model of truck, regardless of whats under it. It's one thing to have a Jeep guy call your truck a "Toy", it's another to have 4x4 Tacoma owner bashing on 4x2 Tacomas.

    you my friend are an idiot. I have owned both engine configurations as well. you obviously feel you need to shit on our 4 cyl thread to make yourself feel more like a man . No one claims one engine is better than the other, you totally missed the OP. All Tacoma configurations serve a unique purpose tailored to the owners individual needs. And FYI the 2.7L tacoma is far from a FWD car with a bed. it is a very capable,strong engine that can tow 3500 LBS.

    You want torque and horsepower BUY A F!@#$%^ diesel.....I enjoy driving my 2.7 home after spending all day listening to the whistle of a 427 Mack pull 30 ton around all day..... and both my trucks are automatics ...jump on that too.....;)

    And for you "Tar babies" come ride around in my "Playground" for 10-12 hours,5-6 days a week.........plus I get paid too "play" in the MUD & sand :cool:.......

    2-3000 posters on here and we stoop to wah-wah about engine size...WTF is next ,asking the "kitchen" to make to Campbells soup like Momma did ????
