As much as the truck costs, don't settle for second choice... Dealers do trades with other area dealers... Insist on the Off Road and your salesman should be hungry enough to find you one!

Now, if you have the bucks to add locking differentials to the Sport to make it a hard-core traction machine... go for it!:D

I would opt for the off road, even though it comes with the short bed. I have the OR and don't use the locker that much but when I do it does come in handy. I just hate long walks back to the farm to grab a tractor to pull myself out of a mudhole when the locker would have helped me out. Having the locker is like peeing your pants while wearing a dark suit....nobody seems to notice but it gives you a warm feeling. Who knows, having the OR might lead to more off roading....how bad would that be?

Not to you, obviously! You even question the need for 4WD for your use... So, why all the energy putting down something that doesn't benefit you... adding to post count, perhaps? Seriously, I am here to have fun too... but I do try and add some education about the Tacoma with my fun... There isn't anything I have posted about the trucks that is intentionally untrue to get a rise here... Too bad you are not able to or have no desire to off road with the truck... with the A-TRAC it is every bit as able to go anyplace the same truck with front and rear lockers is. Along with traction, the tires and driver's skill complete the pyramid of off roading ability. Using 4WD as much as possible in all conditions will give you the skill. There is a lot of off roading to do out there, in the USA... enjoy it before the libs close it to U.S. citizens! Otherwise, join us on a Baja adventure!

They should make a forum called Taco Haters for some of you guys! LOL (yes, a joke).

I admit, I do go overboard with pumping the Off Road Tacoma because it is just that good... I have had three Off Road Tacomas over the past 11 years. So, I say how good stuff is about my truck... and the Taco Haters spend all this time putting down the A-TRAC, or Off Road, or me... that is all negative.

Can't you just say what is so good about a Sport (color matched trim and a fake hood scoop) without the negative stuff about traction and off road supemacy that the Off Road TRDs have??? Can you, huh, huh?? LOL

Hope you all have a Happy Independece Day... and Happy Boxing Day* in Canada, ok, eh?

    * or whatever works in the Great White North!

    None... sigh
I went with OR just for that reason. I take my truck to training areas all the time. The added capabilities have helped me a time or two in the back forty. Just got back in May, be safe.

You know you are just rude... and all the other people in the south I know are polite. I never call you names or put down your truck... but without ever owning a A-TRAC truck, you feel somehow an expert on it... Let it go, I don't follow you around TW to get worked up, I am only providing proven driving experience with 4WD that dates back to the 1960's... I think front lockers are great... for severe off roading where steering isn't needed. The A-TRAC is just a lot better in so many ways, besides it coming free with the Off Road package.

The Tacoma is an excellent truck and nothing is so bad with any model that deserves the put down. They say that people fear the unknown... well, you sure fear A-TRAC because there isn't many places where you haven't tried to discredit it.

Yah, I could loose a few pounds... I don't need you to worry about my weight... When you are 53, then report back please...

Now, once again... have a nice weekend, I sure will as I will be four wheeling and using my A-TRAC I hope!
