USAA extended vehicle warranty

Has anyone ever used USAA's extended vehicle warranty? If so how was it?

 

I purchased one but haven't use it. I've heard bad rumors about non-factory extended warranties but I figured I could trust USAA to find a reputable company. Plus, it was only like $700 or about $4 extra a month for a 6 year/75K mile warranty. Totally worth the risk if I ever need to use the warranty.

 

My friend sells those, not USAA but several other brands.

You have to be real careful about maintaining your vehicle, most want real good documentation.

If there is any wiggle room at all, they don't cover things.

 

USAA is really good for its members. Usually they will just go on your word and generally wont screw you over.

 

Thanks guys. I've had my Tacoma since 06 and was looking at the comprehensive plan for 2 years 24000 miles which would put my truck around 100,000 miles. it would run me about 1700 dollars total but I don't want to use it if its just a rip off.

Put that money in the bank until something happens.
fwiw I've been a member of USAA since 1988, they have been great, but man, that is a lot of dough! Plus they've changed some over the years. Not so automatic as years passed...nickel & dime plus passing on some services to progressive like bike insurance....tough times get them too.

 

Why not just save the $1700 and keep in case you need to do any maintenance?

I never do extended warranties on anything so my opinion is slightly jaded.

 

I'm sure it is not USAA who is actually running the plan, maybe wrong on this but usually they just take a cut and someone else actually administers it.

Get the Toyota one... never had a problem... 87k miles and still have almost 20k of warranty left... everything except periodic maintenance is paid for. I got mine for 1200 and have already gotten its worth out of it. I don't keep documentation, but toyota has everything networked for THEIR work, so no quarrels there.

 

yeah I believe that hence what they did with the bike insurance. Still very pricey some cut!
My Platinum plan 7/100/0 was half of that thru troy.
