Can you put your transfer case in low gear without 4wd?

eh !! I would like to know if there is anyone out there that managed to mod his transfer case to be able to go into ''LOW'' without the 4WD, just to stay in 2WD but with low gear ratio???

Why would you want to?

 

just take out the 4wd fuse in first gens

 

i love 2 low.

 

1st gens mod for this simple, think its called ''blue plug mod" think all u need to do is unplug a plug on the t case.

If you have push button 4wd you can do the mod above but if you have a j-shifter transfer case you have to go with a twin stick. I plan on putting twin sticks in mine soon.

 

Because 1) Traffic sucks with a manual trans 2) Why use 4wd on the trails when you dont have to?

NWToys is the old WATTORA, they split off for whatever reason. The writeup I used for 2Lo was on WATTORA, but that was like 2 years ago.

so if you unplug the blue plug....you can have 2Hi, 4Hi, 4Lo, and now 2Lo?

or do you lose 4Lo?

 

You will not lose anything but you need to do the Grey Wire mod to have your locker

I ran it 2Lo locked last weekend on some trails just to mess with it and it's a awesome mod and if you don't want it just plug it back in.

 

What the blue plug does is automatically engages the truck into 4wd when you put the case into Lo.

So yes, essentially all you're doing is gaining 2Lo, not losing anything.

 

so what do you do if you have a j shifter?
