no one is denying the fact that the frame shouldve been coated better but no one has any problems close to this guys and his pics definently show something that looks peculiar...

Thats what I hope this is, just a lot of rust that pitted the metal but sander took some of it off naval jelly took some of it off and its still there. So its one good chunk of rust pretty deep, still in less then 5 year old car that5 should not be. It should be surface rust only which is removable with the wire brush or sander. The only way to find out how deep it is is to take grinder to it. But if it is deep I will grind the hole then be told by Toyota and some retards here that I had modified frame  (you know who you are :D)

What I find funny that people would even try to make up crap when my avatar clearly states I had owned 1999 Tacoma, Do you want to guess what happen to it :D

Oh I am also familiar with the fact that our frames are phuked the same way Tundra frames, Sequioa frames are. You know Toyota is replacing them right ?

You are correct it is by definition a unibody construction, but the bottom portion still sits out in the weather just as the frame of the tacoma. Still sees the same salt and moisture. I do admit I do not know who manufactures the unibody for Chrysler; but I can tell you they did a hell of a better job than what Dana did for Toyota. Dana does build both axles for the GJC, and none of those show rust issue either.

As for blaming Dana. That worked the first time for Toyota as they did get some money out of it.

    http://www.tundraheadquarters.com/blog/2009/11/20/toyota-tundra-frame-rust-dana/

To bad they can't sill do it. Frames are still made to specifications supplied by Toyota.

Dude, these guys don't have a fricken clue.

I will take some pics of my Undercoated frame..with the undercoating peeling right off cause its coming from the inside of the frame. Terrible, it hurts, pain man pain...

Guess were all ignorant dicks and modified our trucks and its our fault.

Fug that I put enough effort into keeping this frame rust free..major PIA. Not happening with paint. I'll dump this truck before 100k, and make it someone else's prob.

Oil maybe, but who wants that Giant mess?

Oswego you are completely right..but wait guys will dispute it.

Anyone can come up here one winter and you have the problem forever LOL I'll put you up for a couple nights, we can go ice fishing and drive our trucks on the lakes drink some beer the good'ol Wisconsin way.

Yeah, its seems obvious that the reason that' it worked the first time' because it was Dana's fault in the case of the Tacoma.

For the Tundras, apparently a different story for all what it matters in this thread.

Okay seriously, I do understand these frames rust for some people and it's a quality issue. What I don't understand is what you're trying to accomplish. Are you going to do something? Are you going to contact toyota? Or are you just going to bitch here on the forums until your frame rots? Or are you waiting it out in case Toyota does a buy back? Go buy a Ford or whatever if it's that big of a deal. Or cut out the section and weld in a new piece.

I still don't think that looks like rust pitting, that looks like a cut and welds ground flush.

Should have learned from the rear step bumpers always rusting out on the Toyota pickups, what makes the frames any different. :(

If anyone else has owned multiple toyota trucks in an area where salt is used on the roads I'm sure they all agree that each body style has had it's issues. I've owned multiples of many different body styles. My FJ40's rusted everywhere. 1st gen pickup frames rotted behind the cab because they had no drain holes in the bottom. 2cnd gen pickups did the same and the body seam on the beds rotted out. 3rd gens had drain holes in the frame and actually held up great. But the rear corners of the doors rotted out and the rear wheel wells get rusty from crap caught between the plastic liners and the bed. 1st gen taco frames rot out prematurely. My first second gen was a mess after the first winter. So I wirebrushed it all down with my grinder and painted it with rustoleum. Next spring it was a mess again. I wirebrushed it all down again and used rust bullet. Better but still looking bad in some areas. Sold it. Bought another 05 from florida and used Eastwood rust encapsulator on it right away. Went all winter and probably washed it 3 times. Frame is showing some spots of rust but overall not bad. I'll have to hit it again this fall. Honestly this truck is my winter beater. It takes the abuse from the salt so my FJ40, Mustang, and BMW can all stay rust free. When it's finally time to retire this one (hopefully in another 5 years or so) I'll probably buy another one.

When I had my 89 Toy pickup had the frame coated by Zebart and never had any rust problems on the frame the entire 13yrs I had it. the rust problem I had was with the rear step bumper. rusted out twice on me.

I'd like to find hard evidence one way or the other on the quality of Toyota's steel (other than the seemingly accelerated rusting). I'm pretty sure my 2006 frame was still made by DANA, so it's not really Toyota's steel, just Toyota's specs.

Again, I'm not a metallurgist, but I've heard that steel becomes more pure each time it is recycled.

Crack on me all you want. My frame is in decent shape. Far from perfect, I just got out of a 4 year tour in Cape Cod, but I don't have any issues out of the ordinary.

Do what you wanna do but any vehicle you get is gonna show rust in the middle of the NE rust belt. Nothing's been said makes me think Toyota's should be expected to be any different... especially the frame.

Marked in Red where the spot is.
BTW I just realized why (most likely) frame is rusting from inside. I bet water goes down the frame o n the inside from that clip*three blue dots) holding plastic shield
