First I apologize for not completing a sucessful search of the issue. For some reason the search doesn't work right when I try to use it.

    Anyway,
Can someone explain what this TSB is?

I ask because I hauled 900-1000 lbs of materials this evening (about to add on to my patio) and it did some "odd" things but the only thing I really noticed was the feeling of it bottoming out from time to time and occasional rocking of the back end. However, I probably didn't exceed 50 mph. The truck did sit exceptionally lower in the back which didn't surprise me.

Anyway, just wanted to get clarification on what exactly I was supposed to be looking for.

    Cheers

TSB you are refering to is the rough ride when hauling stuff like you did it causing sagging in the back and it just doesnt feel right if you search some more you can find a pdf file on this print it out take it to your dealership and tell them exactly what happened. i did and they didnt find anything wrong with mine, which is bull
heres the link i found http://mysite.verizon.net/vze2ndpp/photos/TSB-SU006-07.pdf

Hey Socalman,What dealer did you take yours to? My dealers says there's nothing wrong with mine too. I'm in Moreno Valley. Your right it is BS . The TSB is based on a customers complaint , not their test drive.I have a meeting with the service rep from my dealer this week. I'm gonna raise hell. Whatever your dealer says Toyota will pay for the work . Its a TSB. If a dealer doesnt do it, its just because they dont want to. If mine doesnt get done here it will get done somewhere. Some dealers are ordering the parts with just a phone call.

The TSB says that your truck will have a rough ride over bumps and bad pavement with a load. I had a guy on here tell me that he took his to Carlsbad and they did the TSB for him. You might try them.

thats correct, i took mine to toyota carlsbad, they ordered the parts and im now good to go....and just today, i had a 2.5" front coil spacer installed and it looks and rides sweet... night and day

toyota carlsbad upgraded me with 4 bilsteins, swapped out my 3 leaf for a 4 leaf pack, and alligment......im happy

let me know if you need any assistance on what to tell them...you have to play hardball...they test drove mine and said they found nothing wrong. But then told me they put no load in the truck.....so at this point, i got loud and they just gave up. good luck

Just went to Home Depot bought 12 , 30 lb bags of gravel. My bed sank low . if i bounce on the bumber it bottoms , with less than 400lbs in it. What if i want to tow something? I did pay extra for the tow package. I'm taking it in on thurs. for them to evaluate whether or not i need the TSB. I'm taking it in with the load. Now im really mad since they told me nothing was wrong. I loaded it and found out there IS an issue. I bet they're gonna be supprised to see me drive in with my bed way down in the pavement.

you should wait until it gets dark, and throw sparks while driving thru the parking lot...........aw bad idea, dont want to start another California wild fire...............good luck, but you shouldnt have to do that. Dont let them pull your leg, they know about the TSB....................

Also it may help to take a copy of the TSB in with you and point out that it's based on your complaint AND covered by your warranty, per toyota. Tell them if they won't take care of it then you'll call up Toyota yourself and see what they think about the dealer being unwilling to do warranty work. Toyota dealers CANNOT take complaints, they get reprimanded harshly for them. If they say they won't do it, just tell them you're filing a complaint about the dealer with Toyota and see what they say. It should definately work then!

It doesn't make any sense. Toyota pays dealerships to do these TSBs. My dealership was eager to get this TSB done.

Thanks for everyones feedback and input.
I have to go in tomorrow to get them to claybar some areas where they oversprayed when it was in getting body work. I think I am going to wait a few months to get the TSB done so that I can time my alignment up with 1 year out.

I bottomed out 5-6 times on Friday in the 5 miles between Lowes & my house.

How long does it take them to do the update/upgrade after you request and they get the parts in?

I just got the call - my parts are in.

They told me that it will take about 6-8 hours of work. They are giving me a loaner car for the day since they are also replacing my front rotors. I will know more tomorrow afternoon. :D

Hey, TuRDTACO. Iv'e already done just that, (filed a complaint with Toyota). after they denied me the TSB in the first place. They set up this meeting, with me, and the service manager. I wont be denied this time.I'm going in with an 800lbs load. the truck is supposed to handle 1380lbs. Its bottoming out all over the place. I have the TSB in hand with my model hightlighted on the paperwork. .

i wouldnt wait at all if you keep bottoming out the suspension, is saving $100 for an alignment worth a couple grand in broken stuff if the dealer still wont do it?

good to hear, and if the dealer still wont do it, threaten them with a visit from The Alliance, and let them know we'll be very pissed for having to drive to SoCal because they need to be yelled at

I don't do that much hauling.
I just tend to do heavy loads when I do.

Here's my update on round 2 with the dealer. Brought my truck in with a 760 lbs load. Had it bottom out on me in the dealers driveway. Now they had told me a toyota service rep was supposed to evaluate my truck. I left it there and when i came back they told me that i didnt need the TSB . They couldnt duplicate the bottoming out. I asked to speak with this rep . They told me i wasnt allowed to. BS. I lit into the customer relations mgr. It was bottoming out on me and im not even near the limit . I ask if i just needed to go buy more rocks till it does botttom for him. I'll be calling Toyota direct again. I let them know that i will be making lots of calls . Now this dealer previously had changed my address on my paperwork to prevent me from getting a cust review. Now i believe they told me my truck was being evaluated by a Toyota rep that i was not allowed to speak to (im sure that he doesnt exist). Saturday I'm taking it to the dealer where i bought it. Anybody in the SOCAL area. NEVER TAKE YOUR TRUCK TO MOSS BROS TOYOTA . THEY ARE SHADY.
