I like the alloy wheels too. That's what I'm running right now and I think they look great. Plus you don't have to worry about paint chipping off of your Steelies.

 

yup, although my steelies still looked great after over a year of use. I just did some touch up and Im gonna throw them up on CL for around $70.

 

Sounds good man. I love the look of your truck. I'm still waiting for my rear Nitrochargers to get in..Then I'll have that same leaf pack as you.

 

nice, it seems like a lot of people have been switching over from the billies to the nitrochargers lately. I love the way my truck rides though .

 

Well I have stock suspension right now and it's all torn up. Leafs are shot, rear shock is blown, and my struts have rust on them...since I started fresh I decided I'd go the extra mile and just get all OME. The ext. cab 4 cyl. 4x4 might be a little rougher ride than the v6 double cab just because it's lighter, but I don't think it's going to matter than much with the 881s

 

yeah you'll love the OME setup. mine rides pretty rough only because of the load range E tires. the suspension is great though.

 

How did you paint the bumpers? And why did you buy a new grille?

That link is very good, that is pretty much exactly how I did mine.

I got the new grille simply because the unpainted plastic is way more durable than paint.

you should rhino-line a strip under the doors along the bottom of the truck like the bumper, it'd look good on a white tacoma like yours

 

Agreed, I would like to do the whole bed and have the rockers done at the same time. I want to do it with high quality line-x though so it won't be cheap. Probably won't happen for a while.

Fantastic thread. Your setup is what I needed to see for my 01 Prerunner Doublecab. It has been awhile since you completed the lift. How do you like it? Any advice?

Loving the suspension, it is pretty firm compared to stock on the road, which I like. Offroad is another story, rides much better than before on washboard and rough roads.

I recently took the sway bar off just to try it out and found that it improved the on road ride quite a bit at the expense of some added body roll in corners.

If I could do it again, I would go with the OME shocks though, the billies are nice and all, but they almost seem like they're valved too soft for these springs.

 

Yeah that is what I'm reading now. Since I just got my Billys I can't turn back. It should be good for at least 3 years though.

 

You'll be fine, it is still a huge upgrade from stock.
