    Thanks!

Hahaha true. Good thing I don't have kids to feed as well, haha

Tried, he was even on my lap for a while with his head resting on my arm. But that's how he wanted to be. He even had it dangling off the seat often too.

Time to make my post. With some help from all of you hopefully I can get a good idea... I Just moved down to Houston Tx a few months ago, I am in a 3rd floor apartment, but I love dogs.

I had a Chow/Collie and a Lab/Pit in St. Louis I had to leave with my mom so I am not "new" to dogs but I would be new with a dog in an apartment. I know the issue with taking em out and stuff and being 3rd floor and I am ok with that and I am going to train for that.

I go to the beach alot so I wanna dog that loves riding in the truck, loves the water, loves catch, and just loves. Any tips on breeds? I am ultimatly looking at a Lab/golden mix(or something like that). The apt complex says "no aggressive dogs" so to recap,

    Looking to adopt:
    Chill
    Fun
    Relaxed at times
    Loves the truck
    Loves water
Mid height, not huge but not a lil weiner dog or Chihuahua.
Not long haired (short and smooth coat)

    Ideas on a breed???

    Ideas on a breed. Hmmm.

A small apartment would be fine if you can keep a large dog exercised every day. Speaking of which, what will your dog do while you're away at work? It's always a concern with a rental property. And how will you handle barking (if it happens)?

I'm a lab guy so that's what I'd get. But man, to have to keep him inside most of the time would be difficult at best. I know you can make it work but it will not be easy.

Well I am 10min from work so Ill be able to come home at lunch and let him/her out till trained. Other then that Ill be able to go out on walks and stuff when off work. Barking... well ill try and "train" not to bark... I know thats a tall order but I know it can be done.

Labs are ok in an apartment as long as they get the exercise they need. My dogs are house dogs - they stay inside when I go to work. They are happy as long as they get their walks and play time.

Thats the thing, its just me. No GF, Social life, etc, so Having a dog will be my best friend. Going out and going for walks and stuff like that during the week will be a must.

My (girlfriends) pup. Sandy is about 10 months old, and we think she's a Black Mouth Cur. Not 100% sure though, we saved her from the pound when she was 8 weeks old.

If it were me i would adopt an older dog from a rescue organization. Lab mix or Golden retriever would be ideal or any older dog for that matter...

IF you can find one, a crossbreed Lab/Golden has the intelligence and loyalty of both breeds, fewer of the faults(dysplasia, blindness/deafness) and a beautiful coat- med length, some wave, and not as much shedding as a Golden. My Zeuski was the smartest, most well behaved dog I've ever had, and always greeted me with that strange Lab grin.

Looks like he's gonna break 100 pounds easy. Get yourself a good coat rake, and never feed him kibble with soy.
Make sure he learns who the boss is early... it's hell to try convincing them later!
