Thank goodness for good bosses and people who help you out.

YES, she is crated and she doesn't mind going in. The breeder started the pups on training and did a great job!! She is crated at night and when I am out of the house - work, shopping, etc and when I can't watch her. Yes, the bitter apple is to stop her from chewing. Used it with both Ollie and Annie and it worked for them... have heard that some dogs like it  They also make other flavor bitter things.

If you get another dog, you would need to find a doggie day care or sitter - since you are gone long hours.

I'm sure Zoie would destroy my bathroom if I left her in there. They learn in the kennel to either play with the toys or sleep.

She learned to use the doggie door within half an hour of being home.... she saw Annie go in and she just followed and then would go on her own.

Good Morning Marcel.. Thanks!!! She's sleeping is the only reason I have a little computer time :anonymous: It's always amazing that the smallest members of the household usually run it

One of the benefits of being in Fire/EMS is they are like a second family. :)

If my sister ends up buying the house next door to me, we're going to fence in both properties together. And that way, someone will always be home. I'll have to remember about that apple stuff.... And if we fence in both properties, then we can have doggie doors and not worry about them getting out to the road. :D

That would be great to have your sis next door.

My doggie door only goes from the garage outside - had to get a door to keep the wasps from visiting - used to have a bad problem of them in the garage. The doggie door means I only have to let them into the garage and they head right outside or they can sit in the garage and wait for me to let them in if the weather is nasty out.

Yeah it will be great. My house has a carport and the other house has a sheltered dog run, so either way they would be protected. The heat is what worries me with dogs being outside down here. I grew up with St Bernards. I know a few people down here that have them, and quite frankly I think it's mean. They are meant for cold weather. One friend of mine has a doggie door, that her house alarm is hooked up to..... Which I would probably do because I'm paranoid about stuff like that. My house was broke into when I moved in. The weekend I moved my stuff in but didn't spend the night. I was obviously cased out while I was moving in.

You need to get a german shephard or rottie and then you wouldn't have to worry about burglers :D I don't think it matters what kind of dog you have, as long as you make concessions for them... keep cold weather dogs in the a/c during the summer.

They make doggie doors that need a transmitter to open - goes on the dogs collar.

That's kind of why I don't have a doggie door going straight outside.. don't want any uninvited visitors. That and I think Annie would spend all day barking at neighbors and people walking by... so she stays inside (just like Ollie did and Zoie will)

Ok, time to get moving... have to go grocery shopping and hit up Lowe's

I remember around 1980 or so..... I had purchased a KISS poster. Needless to say, I was not allowed to put it up on my wall. Mama didn't approve. :(
